Getting GalCiv Betas

Getting GalCiv Betas

Our story so far...

Last night we released GalCiv 1.02Z beta. Because of the way the secure network system is set up, only Drengin.net users can access GalCiv builds that are labeled as beta. We'll have a non-beta version of this new update in a few days. Rather than having betas done purely internally (which is what we did with 1.01 and 1.02) we think it will work better of a sub-set of players get to try them out first before they're unleashed on the general public.

Our schedule is to release a beta of GalCiv 1.02Z for this week to work out kinks and then release 1.03 on Stardock Central next week and then next month release another stand alone build.

What we've also done is make it so that anyone who has GalCiv and would like to upgrade to Drengin.net can do so here:

http://www.galciv.com/upgrade.asp

It's only $30 to upgrade. But to make it even more enticing, those reading this post can get a $10 discount on it by entering in this coupon code when they get into the actual store:

Drengin Coupon Code: DN-43003

In addition, we've changed it so that when you buy Drengin.net you not only get GalCiv and The Corporate Machine and LightWeight Ninja and Stellar Frontier and so on, but you'll get any new games we make for the next year and a half. That would mean that you'd probably get (better get) The Political Machine (new political strategy game). Existing Drengin.net users are getting another 6 months automatically added on as well.

Have fun!

Brad,
as you know, we alpha/beta tester received both a DN code AND a GC package with another code.
My question is: can we use the GC package code to upgrade to a second Drengin account I wish to give as present? I want you to keep me honest and not abuse the system...
Let me know.
Gherardo

Rich,
my free time is almost zero... and so have very few opportunities. What I'd really like is a WW GC beta conference and really meet all my "pen" friends somewhere. :)
I can plan all in Roma-Italy... ;p LOL

Reference reply #25: Received prompt response from Stardock with serial#. Thanks for the high level of support.

OK, one comment that probably doesn't exactly belong here, but I figure it'll get seen by TPTB:

The music files for TCM and LWN have the same name, version number, and file date. As such, when you use SDC to archive them, it overwrites the first with whatever you downloaded second.

Ghardo: I don't know the answer to that but I bet the asnwer is yes.

Will I still be able to download updates, patches, betas, and downloads and such (will Stardock still work?) If I don't do this additional subscription?

En Forcer, normal-patches yes, normal updates - yes, betas - no.

The additional sub was Brad's slick marketing move to get us all to chime in another $20 to be continued beta testers ;p

Well, I'd been looking for an excuse to go D.net anyways--and will, if anyone gets back to me on the one year limit on patches before the end of the month. ;)

Are the beta updates supposed to appear here on stardock in the software pane, just like normal updates? Am I just looking in the wrong place?

btw, I bought the drengin upgrade a few weeks ago but just entered the serial now. It said the registration was OK. I tried restarting the application, refreshing application data, and just plain refresh.
