Strange text in "currently selected ship status".

I sometimes get a strange set of characters/heirlogliphs in the ship status window. This
occurs (sometimes, not always) after a "next turn" is completed in which one of my
stars successfully defends itself from an attack. When it happens it is the first thing
that shows up after the "next turn". No ship is selected. Most of the time the fields in
the ship status windows have "N/A" in them, which is what I would expect.
Sometimes, however, they contain thinks like "zutW" and "zutWOEe|" (the OE looks
butted together and the e has a single quote over it). It looks like variable names in
text descriptions that have not been filled in correctly before being displayed.
Just for the fun of it I tried searching for this string in the GalCiv directory and sub-
directories and got no responses.
