Often daunting it has been,
the entire time on hold,
forgetting why I've called.
Finally a voice on the other line,
wake me from a muzak nap,
"Hi, my name is ________"
you can insert the blank,
"How may I help you?"
I'm not sure I really want to be helped,
didn't I make this call out of my own villition,
"How dare you suggest I need help."
"Please hold."
Good God I need help,
often daunting it has been,
to go through life with all the right answers,
that no one will listen to.
"Thank you for holding sir, how may I direct your call?"
Fine, just be assertive and blunt,
take a deep breath and exhale...
"Thank God you're there,
I wish to lodge a complaint
to myself for not reminding me
of my intent,
for wasting your time
in circular dialogue,
making me ever so dizzy.

to save me,
quick! before this phone chord serpent slithers around my throat
in order to devour me,
