Using the Terror Star - What happens?

Just built one. And i got a notice a turn later that the
Arcaens found something that will eventually make them conquerers of the galaxy and to get them now before they get too powerful.

however, they are far away..and the terror star moves
only 1 space.


q: what does the terror star actually do? does it cost
alot to actually use it? or does it fire freely like
ships? Does it affect your good/evil or morale? other
relations with other empires?

q: what should i do about the Arcaens?

The Terror Star has a couple uses:

1) If you max out all the bonuses on it, you can now travel around to any sector with it and all your ships will have huge bonuses. It can also add tremendously to your influence in that sector.

2) It will blow up a star system entirely --for free. Good question about lowering your morality, but I was evil in the last game in which I used it, so I wouldn't have noticed.

As for the Arceans, they'll likely become more and more powerful each turn, so you might consider aligning people against them or getting over there yourself to take them out before they become too powerful.

...And doesn't have a nice FMV sequence. I was disappointed, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to liven up the later game a bit.
