Turn off autopilot?

I'll probably find it somewhere eventually.. it is just easier to find out here, what-with all the beta gurus of this game. LOL

Just wondering how to turn off the autopilot for ships (or for certain ships, if possible), so you can move them all yourself, if you wish. Thanks!

auto pilot will always turn on whenever you tell a ship to go somewhere that is out of its range for that turn. as far as i know you can't turn this off. but if u want to move it freely again all ya gotta do is click on the ship once to select it and auto pilot should turn off. perhaps turning auto pilot off should be a request for stardock if enough people want it.

Click on the ship, either in the main screen or on the ship list.

It would be a great feature, IMO. Clicking on every ship each turn to turn off autopilot could get cumbersome. I enjoy especially earlier in the game, to control where my ships go. An 'autopilot off' option would be nice.

Any chance this could be included? Brad? Anyone? :D

Aye, Autopilot confused me for a while since I could still click a ship and move it manually even while it was flagged as "Autopilot" but the Find (ie next unit) button does not go to ships on autopilot. Threw me off for a couple hours until i realized the autopilot ships don't move along their routes until you end your turn. :notsure:

Does autopiloted ships moving after you hit the turn button seem less than ideal to anyone else?

I'd actually prefer for all autopiloted/directed ships to move *first* - or better still have a key/button to press that runs all auto/directed ships thru their moves.

I've had several occasions when a directed (usually auto survey) or autopiloted ship's turn would have changed my actions during the turn. For example a survey vessel discovering a ship I could use, or a constructor reaching it's destination with enough points to go ahead and build.

It's not a huge issue (like the inability to use the arrow keys in planet view), but since both of the examples above "work" when manually controlling your ships it's an "automation" penalty. I can live with it, just curious what others think. Thanks
Hope that makes some sense.

What is seems like to me is that they will move at the end of the turn. Unless you move a ship manually, then they all do their automoves before the end of turn. UNLESS.. the star systems are aligned just right it seems, then some will move.. and some will not. Um.. it is a little confusing. :p

Chalk it up to the learning curve *sigh* Anyone have a really clear idea of how autopilot works, and if it can be shut off completely? Or for certain ship types? Thanks!
