Thinking about leading a Civilization

One problem is that the lifetime of a single individual is never long enough to lead a civilization the way that GalCiv imagines.

One possible solution would be "hot sleep." As described in The Worthing Saga by Orson Scott Card ISBN: 0812533313, hot sleep allowed important people to sleep most of the time (in suspended animation) and wake up for (maybe) one day a year to make important decisions. This science fiction device would allow one person to dictate many of choices that the civilization would follow. If there was an immediate problem (like riots) there would be a good chance that the person would wake up to a trial where they would be executed.

Thus, Govenors would be required to do much of the guidance of the civilization -- and you, the leader, might live to see the sheparding of your civilization into the next realm.

Just an idea ---

Thanks!

Frank,

Have you looked at some of the research projects that are available? Some of them are quite interesting, in terms of longevity enhancement, such as
"Near Omnipotence" and "Beyond Human". Although these are rather far down the tech tree, there are others that can be researched earlier that are
also intriguing such as "Organic Piecing", "Genetic Mapping", "Virus Elimination", "Molecular Medicine", and "Regeneration", just to name a few.

Perhaps it is better to think of it as being leader for the life of the game, than to try to place human's mortal certainty on the leader, after all,
it is just a game. And when some aspect of reality can't be made to fit the parameters of the game, isn't it better to just accept the game parameters
than to try to force it to fit a particular aspect of reality?

Cheers,
Jack
