Salvaging population on decommisioned colony ships

After the land rush, is there any way to unload colony ship population on a planet prior to decommisioning the ship??? If not, it would be a nice and realistic feature. I hate having population sitting idle on obsolete colony ships. :notsure:

yep, just have the colony ship land on one of your populated systems the same way you would to make a new colony. The ship will end up on your pointer on the side of the screen, and you can pick which planet you want the people on.
