Anomolies Affect all Ships?

I was up sooo late playing GalCiv last nite *yawn*

But as I was wrapping up, I recalled when I found anomolies that gave my ship bonuses that it said your 'ship' received say, a +4hp bonus or whatever.

Is this a bonus for ALL ships, both current and to be made in the future, including non researched ship types? Thanks in advance for any answer to this!

Gah.. are you serious?! What good are anomolies then? It isn't as if hitpoints or better armor is going to help out a ship that won't ever see combat if I can help it! If only survey ships can use anomolies that pump up your ship.. they are fairly worthless, IMO.

If that is the case.. is there any tech that will give your fighers, corvettes, battleships etc.. the ability to snag anomolies? And additionally, do anomolies repopulate over the course of a game? I really hope the answers are 'yes' and 'yes'. :(

If someone can tell me what good a pumped up survey ship is, I would appreciate it!

That pumped up survey ship can become one of the most powerful ships in the game.

There are other ships that you can build later on that can investigate anomolies

In one game, I found a cluster of anomalies above a group of planets I wanted to colonize, which pumped up my survey ship +8 hps, +3 attack, +4 defense (or something like that). The Drengin were sending Colony ships to that group of planets and I used my pumped-up Survey Ship to destroy their ships, and took the planets as my own. :)

As I understand it (and I could be wrong), the anomolies that add a fixed amount (4 HP, 1 attack, 1 defense) only affect the one Survey ship. The ones that affect something by a percentage (+1% to economy/research/weapons/etc, or +5% to espionage) are global.

Actually, in my last game, my survey ship was the best combat ship I had by the end of the game. I suspect this is true more often if you play in larger galaxies. In fact, with the hugest galaxies, I can see the posibility for the later, better ships that can probe anomolies picking up a few of them, and some of them are decent combat ships, like the Ranger.

I've found that in a smallish galaxy the anomalies are quite abundant, yet in the huge/gigantic galaxies the anomalies are pretty rare.

Makes me wonder if the game spawns equal amounts anomalies for each galaxy size, just with the larger ones they're distributed more?

Good to know, thanks! And a good question MadCow.. I noticed the same thing.

Strategy quetion then. Should your survey ship ignore the anomolies nearest your star systems early in the game, saving them for Rangers and other ships later in the game? I'm assuming anomolies don't recrop up later then.

And that would be a neat mod IMO. Anomolies that not only appear, but DISappear during the game. Thus always being a fair supply of them. Good? No? Could someone mod this please? LOL

Anomalies will never run out, there will be new ones that respawn somwhere in the galaxy.
Oh and those Ranger ships are very good ;)

Ok.. this makes me happier. Good! Will anomolies reappear near your starsystems later in the game?

Anomalies will appear literally anywhere at any time. I had two appear right in my home sector several years into the game. I HATE wormholes. I hit two in one game that sent my ship literally to the other corner of the galaxy from my home system and all it could do was retreat home... gave me a good look at the middle of the galaxy even if I couldn't explore it and capture anomalies at the time.

What if you have your survery shipped grouped up with a few star fighers for example and you check out an anamoly, will they all get the benefit then or just the survery still?
