question about playing pre patched game

from Stardock Forums
One of my saved games from 1.0 (that I really want to finish) does not work very well in 1.3. I was wondering if there is a way for me to still play 1.0 if I installed the game from Stardock, and didn't make a backup of 1.0.

The only thing I can come up with is to copy the save game elsewhere, then reinstall the game, put back the save game, then finish the map. THEN, update the game.

I'm guessing that it may be a good idea to finish a game before patching to a new number (i.e. 1.02 to 1.03), but it should be okay to update at that same number (1.031 to 1.032, or whatever). I suppose it depends on what was changed. :notsure:

Won't wotk, problem is installing it through stardock installed it at 1.3.

If it was that simple, I would not be asking here ;p

I updated to 1.03 after I had one of my best games going from version 1.02. I loaded my game right afterwards to be shocked with all my 80-100% morale planets down to 1-20%. I backup my savegames and uninstalled the game. Reinstalled it and it worked perfectly I am still playing the same game. I removed the folders that were left manually as the game left some of the data & gfx folders intact after the uninstall was complete. I hope that helps you out.
