I'm Not In Love With You

By Me

I'm not in love with you
It's something different,
like the weather
That always changes.
But you're like the rain
falling down on me
A rain that should fertilize seeds
I wish you would plant your
seeds in me
to take root, and grow
And blossom and flower
New thoughts in my tired,
tired brain.
But, no! you are a storm
Crushing all the life
That was sprouting up.
A storm without thunder,
though,
Without the electricity
Causing lightning.
A quiet storm that only rages.

Would that you were like a summer day,
But you are! Like a
hot summer day
In Minnesota.
The ones that come twice a summer
leaving us angry, bitter, and
wishing for more.
