Peition for lock spending & lock slider sommand, plus research & production overflow

In the early stages of the game, a common turn starts like this for me:

1): Set military spending to 100%
2): Adjust general spending slider to find best level of military spending so ships are completed with minimal waste
3): Write down number from #2
4): Set social spending to 100%
5): Adjust general spending slider to find best level of social spending so projects are completed with minimal waste
6): Write down number from #5
7): Set research spending to 100%
8): Adjust general spending slider to find best level of research spending so projects are completed with minimal waste
9): Write down number from #8
10): Sum up the three recorded numbers and adjust general spending to that level
11): Fiddle with sliders until production in all three areas are at desirable levels

So why am I making the game so difficult for myself? The answer is I must do this to avoid wasting as much as 30% of my production for naught and consequently losing the game. What I would really like to help alleviate this micromanagement nightmare is the following:

* Lock Spending Command

If I discover that 2,374 BC is the optimal military/social/research spending level, please allow me to lock in that spending and override the other sliders.

* Lock Slider Command

Please, save me from carpal tunnel!

* Research & Production Overflow

If full overflow makes it too easy for players to react to changing circumstances, please allow partial overflow at least. This would alleviate the need for precise micromanagement on higher difficulty levels and save you some time in writing a micromanagement algorithm for the AI.

I agree! ;)

This would be a welcome feature IMHO. I thought I was anal about adjusting the sliders but Za H you are better than me at this! :)

Those only works if, when you lock a slider, it locks the BC allocation.

If you simply lock the position of the slider, then the BC allocations will change when you move the other sliders.

I think overflow would make life much easier....but would it make it too easy? Part of what makes a player like Za H a good player is the fact that he does do these fine slider adjustments to avoid waste. Allowing overflow might make things a little too easy, just as allowing planets without active production projects to not spend money might make things too easy.

On second though, it would help my sanity and possibly make the game a little more FUN to not have to worry about wasted production...and fun is mostly what this game is about, IMO. Maybe allowing some overflow wouldn't be so bad.

That's true however I would still welcome a slider lock. This would make fine adjusting the other two sliders a litter easier. Yes the sliders are percentages of the BC allocation (which changes from turn to turn I suspect) and one can never truely assign an absolute number to say military spending however the ability to fine adjust the sliders would still be beneficial to some degree IMHO.

Now OTOH since GalCiv is about Macroeconomics and not microenconomics the ability to fine tune to such a minute degree may be unnecessary.
