Screen Resolution

Hi!
Regarding screen resolution, is it dependant upon the windows resolution as I can't see where to change it from within the game? I am using the latest 1.03 patch!
Can anyone help?

Although there is a mention in the manual about being able to change resolution, you never could and it's probably real low or their list of things to add in.

It's 1024x768 until Frogboy says otherwise ;)

Yes, it tells you the different resolutions in the readme file!
They go into it in some detail as well! :notsure:

Wow, that is just not good. I was all set to dig into this demo when I realized there was no option to change the resolution. Now I read here that there will never be such an option.
I have an LCD and need to run everything at native 1280x1024 or else scaling occurs and the graphics look like hell. I see I can get a window mode exec but then I have to switch to 16-bit color! Looks like me and others like me are somewhat alienated from this game. Oh well, that's life. No way am I switching back to CRT.

lol. you'd think strategy first could manage not to embarrass themselves releasing a game this one time when all they had to do was write a readme. so many humorous initial game releases from them...

Seems like the LCD screen makers would address this issue pretty soon. If they can't scale accurately, why don't they make it so that the 1024 screen is applied to the 1280 screen, but smaller than full screen.

It seems to me that I was talking about this with someone in the Gal Civ chat room and they managed to figure out how to get Gal Civ to play decently fullscreen on an LCD.  You could try starting a new thread asking if anyone has any tips.

If you play in windowed mode the screen resolution matters. I set my monitor to 1600x1200 so I have room for my notepad file.

Maybe that's your solution: play in windowed mode.

He said he was aware of the windowed mode. I don't see why 16-bit color is bad. I'm assuming that its because you're normally in a higher color level. Its not too hard to switch, and 16-bit isn't terrible like 256 color mode...shudder.
