Early game military rush

I think I saw a thread on here awhile back discussing this but can't find it.
Is there a similar tactic to the Civ3 archer/barbarian rushes that people use in galciv?
Unless it's a minor civ I have never attacked an AI with anything less than battleships as I am basically a wimp.
Just curious what some of you guys do?

Early planetary invasion are costly in terms of future manpower growth loss if that makes sense

Think compound interest... Personally I stick to crippling the enemy fleet / starbases and then settling for terms (all tech, loads of cash, influence).

Jeff,

Your GalCiv account has an option you can change which will allow threads to appear longer than the default (which iirc is set to a rather low timeframe of a little over a week).

The URL is www.wincustomize.com/login.asp. Select "edit account" at the top.
