Production hints needed!

Hello!
In every game I play I use to be #1 in population and economy, but I´m always falling behind in production, although I´m developing my planets fast. When I look at the production map later in the game, all, even weaker aliens are far superior in production, while my worlds remain to be smaller dots.
I´m always building all available improvements, but I just can´t keep the pace.
Maybe I just have the wrong strategy...
Any suggestions?

Perfectionist + Civ Experience = Build All Improvements = Huge Maintenance Costs = Low Production ;)

Some of the social projects you can safely skip on are:

- All the starship quality improvements (don't work after loading games)

- All the morale improvements except Entertainment Networks, Stadiums, Transporters, and perhaps Harmony Generators (rest are too expensive to build and maintain)

- All the prestige/influence improvements (you won't need them until late game)

Be careful about military maintenance as well, and try to keep those trade routes full and tribute rolling in.

"All the starship quality improvements (don't work after loading games)"

Is this true and if so has it been fixed in 1.03?

Za H is right about everything else, you need not build every improvement until they are absolutely needed. Otherwise you'll kill your economy.

The situation really deteriorated when I invaded three systems at the same time while leaving the planetary improvements intact. The monthly revenue in my empire suddenly dropped to -200 credits.
Well, my people just have to live a bit more spartanic now...

That's one of the big problems with invasion at the moment - the population on captured planets is so low, unless you ship out even more population when you invade, you just can't generate the necessary tax revenues.

Haupt. Dietrich:

It's confirmed. For me, I never seen any bonus, and for others, the bonus is removed upon loading a saved game. Either way it's not working as intended.

MojoJojoUK:

A loss of population isn't always bad thing for newly conquered planets since that helps significantly with morale. This is critical on higher difficulty levels when the AI receives large bonuses to PQ and morale. A culturally converted planet will often start with 1 morale, and you won't be able to get out of that hole before you ship 20 billion people off the planet.
