Defenders Don't

As a general rule, when a defender attacks another defender which is orbiting a planet, it should fail -- that is with an attack value of 1 and a defense value of 2 most of the time the attacker will (should) die.

That is the opposite of what I have been experiencing when I play. Most of the time and fresh defender will be able to kill another fresh defender. Is this correct? A feature, bug, or my imagination running wild with me?

Cheers,

Frank

this also happens to me and i think its a bug as the defender isn't supposed to be an attacking ship. i think also that defenders should get a bonus when in systems but i don't know whether that will be done

I agree and I looked into this today.

New changes:

Defenders:
2 attack
3 defense

and

ships in orbit get 5X the # of hitpoints they normally get.

If a defending fleet has some attack ships in it, you could give initiative to those ships first. Justification: attack ships in orbit hide behind moons or in astroid belts and launch a surprise attack on the attacking ship. In that case the scenario becomes:
1) Attacker attacks colony
2) Attack ships orbitting the colony attack the attackers first
3) The attacker attacks the remaining ships in orbit.

This sounds like one strategy. But will it fit all? Can someone give us a hint about what
plans there are for battle detail - that is, what is in plan to allow us to control the
flow of combat for a star?

The game will use the best ship to defend the star system first. It does this by adding attack + 2X the defense.

Ships in orbit now get a significant defensive bonus.
