Multimedia download? animated ship info?

First off, I am in love with this game, and I would like to say that Brad and co. are definitely in the right business and at the right time. 
I have downloaded the multimedia add-on through stardock central and have not seen any changes. Should I have done an additional step or more to apply this add-on?
In a possibly related issue, I noticed the new "animate ship info" option in the game menu, but turning it on does nothing (I can see so far). Are all the ship info windows going to be animated or just some. Where's the beef on this multi-media add-on. I was so impressed by the "bonus pak" add-on I can't stand the idea of missing one morsel of the unbelievable goodness Stardock is distributing in Gal Civ, please help, fellow gamers! (:(
