Well, I had literally over a 100 CTDs with my last complete 1.03.54 game. Fresh game, no MODS.
The main ones were the save CTDs. Several varieties exists.
Main one I saw of save CTD was that it would be able to save the AI info, but crashed at the very start of the human info. This didn't corrupt the game. It caused all info but the human info to be updated, resulting in a time slip for the human player.
The second most CTD I saw was related to the AI abandoning worlds. It wasn't 100% of the time, but it was 4/5 times cause a CTD during the save game cycle. Almost no info would be updated.
The third most CTD I (seemed to) occured at the very start of save, whether done automatically or via the human direction.
The fourth most CTD cause complete save file corruption. Red screen, no info, crash when menu was tried. Had to recover using PreviousAutosave game.
From my gameplay experience, there's something that gets off easily in the save routine. The is also a new secondary problem associated with abandoning/updating after abandoning a planet. The update after abandoning issue seemed to be avoidable by not having the mini map displaying any useful info (no pop/manu/culture/star), but I didn't have it down to 100% repeatable.
I suspect that most people aren't using the give away colonies anymore. I was using it to get rid of all the colony ships I had about. I knew the AI had been fixed to not keep them after the first time, which was fine by me. (Let the AI kill all those grouchy colonists. I'm 'clean' in the matter.) Note: the AI is still crediting me with the gesture of giving them a world, which can be handy in the keeping up the good will. And it was handy for also moving my alignment quickly to where I wanted it, as well as making up for taking a few 'evil' choices I took in settling big worlds I was going to keep for myself. So a bit of cheese is still left concerning minor worlds issue, if that is still a concern.
