Computer AI's not taking advantage of Final Fronteer

I won a Gigantic game by trading almost all my planets to the Torin for, guess what, Final Fronteir. I take it that beyond human is only available to..., er um, humans?

Nope sadly the AI cannot win via Final Frontier.

The challenge to winning by Final Frontier is supposed to be (I think) holding out against the AI races while researching your way to the Final Frontier. I've read some after-action reports that went this way, but also quite a few from people who say they had their pick of victory conditions and went for it. IMO, if you play to the point that you can just pick and choose, it's time to up the AI intelligence.
