How to see planet rating?

Ok I'm a newbie and relly dont understand this. How do I see a planet rating before I colonize a planet - how do I send a scout for example into orbit of a star?

You don't need to send a scout into orbit to see the rating. The moment you see a star on the map you can just click on it to see the planets in that star system. The planet rating is the number right beside the planet, something between 1 and 20something.

There may be systems that have no planets. If you click on these you'll just see the star and no planets.

hmm, well when I try to click on a planet that isn't mine the whole star screens goes and i am left in the space map?

any ideas?

and if i have not colonized that planet then i get no info about it in the star screen?

There is no info on a planet you don't own. When you click on the star the list of planets in it appear on the right. The number next to the planet is it's rating.

yeah what I'm saying is all the planets in the system have a name and thats it... no numbers or anything??
