sector sweep and auto survey ? :notsure:

What do these two ship orders do ?

I have tried turning them on, but don't see any effect.

Thanks!

Sector sweep: Ship patrols the border of the sector its in.

Auto survey: Ship explores every anomoly it can find.

With auto-survey it works great especially if you've already explored so there's many anomalies visible. Note that you shouldn't have more than one survey ship on auto though, if they are near eachother they will both go for the same anomaly so the 2nd ship never actually anything... :(

I have noticed on the Auto-survey that if the ship is not within noticeable range of an anamolie that it will not move. You are required then to move it yourself to an unexplored sector or a sector clouded by fog of war.

It's not that bad Alf, eventually one of them will hit a wormhole & they'll be seperate again.

Thanks for the info. I see this working now. The problem was by the time I tried autosurvey, the game was quite far along and there were no anomalies left.

Personally, I'd prefer sector-sweep to be replaced by sector-guard. The ship stays static until an enemy ship enters the sector. If the ship can intercept it, it does so, then goes back to its post.

Also, it'd be nice if there was an option for 'guarding' ship to wake up if a garrison ship appears on a previously empty enemy colony.

Put the ship on auto-attack.

It'll only attack ships you're at war with, but it will leave the sector if there's a ship elsewhere that needs a beating :)
