Please introduce tactical map in planet screen

On large maps, especially when you start taken over star systems you loose track of where a planet is located so it's hard to determine what you should build. E.g. why produce a dreadnought if you know it will take 40 months to take it to the frontline?
So I would like a (zoomable) tactical map available in the planet screen. As a matter of fact I think this map is so useful that I think a button for it should be always accessable in the UI and not hidden in the planet list.
Btw. I realize we have the minimap but it's not available when you're in the planet screen at the start of the turn and also because of the range grid it is, on larger maps, not so useful as the tactical map.

I don't remember exactly (and can't check it now) but it seemed to me that even in the planet screen if you click in one of the buttons below (planet list, ship list, galaxy) you can have the minimap back.
I too happen to have this planet-location-amnesia in the late-game, due to too many planets :notsure:

If this is correct, I hope it helps.

Za01,
I just checked it. And you are right. Sorry, forget all I said before. (:(

When amnesia strikes, it seems the only way to know where the planet is, is to click in the galaxy button (whch takes out the planet screen as you mentioned) look for the planet, and then come back and make the decisions :( .

It can be quite long in big galaxies.

Maybe they can make the minimap (centered on actual location) available from planet screen. That would partially solve the problem, I guess.

Sorry again for temporarely misleading you.

Yes, the problem is that the cursor doesn't go to the planet that you're looking at, so bringing up the galaxy map doesn't help that much.

By the way, though, F9 will always take you to the "tactical" map.

Yes, I miss a nice minimap to in planet view too. It would be nice to have it clickable to switch planetfocus aswell. This is, I think, the only interface feature I really miss. MOO2 had on, so I guess some of us are used to have one.

Actually yes thats a great idea I could USE a map like that too. I suggested a way to temporarily minimize the planet screen so you can know where the hell its located :/
