Driving Around For Cheaper Gas

The other day I drove around,
for a half hour,
looking for cheaper gas.

Settled for more expensive than the first,
settled for less than a full tank,
to concede defeat.

Inside the cafe,
I'm offered the burnt weekday 11am coffee,
as the server listens to pop-rock B-sides,
reminding me that I made a wise decision,
by forgoing the purchase of that album.

Guaranteed I will remember more lyrics
than I will ever remember names and faces,

and I am burning fuel.
