woo hoo! a CTD that I know how to reproduce (attn: developers)

Try this out:

1. Send a ship to colonize a planet (accept the system name)
2. Instead of selecting a planet in the system to colonize, try to reload a saved game.

I gotta another although it may just be me ;) Select the ship list, select a ship thats already enroute to somewhere, click the launch ship icon (yes i know its already launched) and bingo CTD everytime for me

I'll check into that.  Do you have a save game that will reproduce that?

If so, please e-mail it to me at [email protected]

I'll need both the .sav file and the folder with the same name as the .sav file.

I got one! Bring up your ships menu on the right hand side (little triangle button along the bottom row) . . . select the arrow to end multiple ships to a location on your screen . . . grouping different ships causes a CTD every time (at leats for me) . . . :p

Ginata, maybe it's just too early in a morning when I haven't had any caffeine, but I'm having trouble visualizing how to reproduce the bug.  So you open the ship list, then you start clicking on the button that sets an autopilot course for that ship.  Are you multiple selecting ships, or is this happening for ships in fleets, or what?

Sorry Cari I'll try and explain it better . . .

Ok assuming you have some constructors and combat transports in your ship list (seen on the right hand side of the screen in your list of ships)

What I like to do to mobolize my fleets is to simply open that display (ship/fleet list) and click the arrow key for each ship (the little blue arrow for each ship pointing to the top right) which sends that ship to a circle seen in the middle of the main display (which I center using the big map for each location) for as many constructors as I need at each location all in a single turn.

What I have noticed is that if you click the little blue arrow on more than one ship type (say a combat transport after giving navigation orders to a number of constructors) it causes a CTD every time.

Its easy to just click on the other (non-constructor ships) by themselves (not using the ship list) and send them on thier way to avoid the CTD. So its not a big hassel but then again I play a culture bombing style so I don't have many millitary ships to worry about anyway.

I haven't seen this bug posted probably because the way I move ships around in the whole game makes exclusive use of the fleet list to send them anywhere(I find efficient) . . .

Otherwise, I have not had a single CTD since I reinstaled GC and upgraded straight to 1.11 (must have wiped a few bugs left over from each update I guess) which I think is great! The game runs much more quickly too! Great work!

... well i move my ships the same way (the arrow thingy ... which btw took me years (well days) ... to find out about) and never had a ctd ... :notsure:

... and i might add; Cotal ... err ... Granata Osolemio ... your metaverse jumping qualifies you for one empire: ... no, not the slightly silly empire ... :D

Mmm . . . thats interesting Aeddy 80 if you get a chance to experiment, try building about 4 dozen constructors and a couple combat vessels, bring up the menu and move them all at once (constructors clicked first) to a location after rolling the slider on the right hand side . . . thats exactly whats crashing me every time. :notsure:

I might have to send Cari a game (as if she isn't busy enough). I've got a fresh install yet the problem persists (doesn't phase me it's just curious).

Maybe a couple screenshots would help. Sending saves might not do much good if Cari doesn't know what you're clicking on in the first place. :)

LOL, I knew what he was clicking on. :)

And the added details do help.  The first report was just a bit ambiguous.  I don't think that I've ever complained about someone giving me too much information in a bug report. :)

I think that a save game and your debug.err file would be useful in tracking down this bug.  If you have any mods, I'll need those too. (You can always zip up your entire data folder if necessary; our mail server can handle it, as long as yours can. ) :)

Thanks Cari . . . I've upgraded to 1.12 . . . hopefully the combat transport bug will go away, I'm so used to working around it I keep forgeting to check . . . hehe. Great work on 1.12 incidently . . . :D

If it persists I'll zip and send it as you suggested (having too much fun playing the new version wOOt!)
