G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Arrrrrgh!

EBZ here, with news about what's going on in my twisted realm of death and pain...

Still no plans on playing GalCiv...however, I did find somewhere's on SD that there was some really old version of GalCiv & GalCiv 2 released (seemed liek for OS/2), interesting though, I'd play it (anyone know where to get it?) Currently, I've been engaged to MOO3, which I may say is one of the longest games I have ever played (except FF games)...currently on turn 786, it takes about a day to get through a turn, since I cant tolerate going through all the planet screens much longer than a few hours (for one turn, yet still a very fun game).

Been kinda poking around the community today, saw a few things(not worth mentioning), yet I feel that I'll be a little more active than I have been latley here on the Threadzilla and on the GalCiv IRC chat.

Also been planning on powering up my site again, but I dunno what I'm gonna do with the GCCG since it will be gone once I redo my site.

The downside soon will be that I won't have the internet come near mid-november, or even a computer at all (life is just too unforgiving). So till then, I'll be popping around here, just look for the guy patrolling the universe with a double-barrel sawed-off shotgun and a black trenchcoat. Speaking of which time to pick up the Matrix 2 today :)

Btw, nice job for Cotal finally kicking Ray's arse, since I saw that today, it was the first smile I had since the Altarian Massacre around here. And good job pirates, seems liek some of you really still make that effort to be #1.

May your day be filled with Altarians screaming in pain and agony! :)

Good to see ya again, EBZ! You'd be proud of me, I've taken to frying Altarians in a light butter sauce and serving alongside roast Torian and Arcean stew. For dessert, I usually have Drengin blood cake with Yor oil dribbled over it! :d

Playing MOO3, huh? Well, as long as you're happy...

Take care and we'll see ya when you pop in again! :)

EBZ,

Glad you stopped by! The Masoverse hasn't been the same -- and GROSS certainly misses you. The GCCG was the prototype for maso cranking -- you can still crank at maso on tiny/rare - and Cotal seems to be able to crank at Maso / Gigantic. The shift is now to use Influence Points as currency. I'm working on getting my time down, as it will be the only way I can post games quickly. I did learn a lot from your guide in this respect.

Glad you're enjoying MOO3. It seems like you've gone to the other extreme from the 15-20 minute game. I never actually finished a game -- fortunately, I got that one from free from Amazon about the same time I got GalCiv.

Should we start a new thread when we hit 3000? Despite the new server, this thread is still pretty slow.

Happy Raiding,
Cypher Pax

Threadzilla roars at that suggestion and she snaps her jaws shut on cypher's shirt. She playfully tosses him in the air and he comes down in a heap. Threadzilla gives him a look like "you're lucky you're one of us or you'd have been dinner sunshine.

The Transport Gambit:
In my last game, I found myself in a desperate situation. Conquest of the Alexians was next on my to-do list and the Drendin were about to beat me to it. My survey ship revealed that not only had the Drendin taken out the defenses but they had three transports that would land in the next turn and they would only need one.

If the Drendin took the planet, the game was over as they already had 3 systems to all the other incredible AIs 1 or 2. Not wanting to lose the game, I offered 6 BC for 100 turns and a junk tech. They accepted and I captured the planet.

This felt like an incredibly cheap price since I could not have rushed a ship for that amount of credits (and it would have been a turn late and 3 sectors away to boot).

I felt there would certainly be other applications, like the war I had started between the Torians and nearly everyone (which had given the Drendins the edge). I flew my Star Fighter next to the remaining Torian planet to discover that it only had 2 transports and a colony ship (and about 16 billion Torians). Note: The Torians had at least 3 Death Knights flying around – but they had also just launched an offensive. For 4 minor techs, I was given both transports. The Star Fighter picked off the colony ship. The first transport used an destructive invasion technique and did a ton of damage leaving only 2 billion Torians (and a lot of Torian sushi). The second transport took the planet. This was almost more surprising than the Alexian situation, because I was surprised that planet bound Transports were loaded when I ‘purchased’ them. Essentially, the Torians had taken themselves out.

I figured I could try this out as a strategy. The Drendin and the Yor had the biggest militaries and they were located a sector apart. I bribed the Drendins to war against the Yor. Thankfully, they eliminated each other fleets – but the Drendin were about to prevail and land their transports on the Yor homeworld when I traded a good number of techs (some like Stellar Cartography and Basic Repair) for their transports. I then eliminated the Yor.

Finally, in clean-up mode, I used this gambit to buy all the remaining Arcean ships (including a pair of combat transports) and invaded their homeworld with their own ships.

Assessment:
This economics of scale makes this very useful on smaller maps, but it good also be useful on larger maps in specific situations. I don’t know how much population is put on purchased transports, but I’d guess they’ll about half full as if you had auto-launched them.

There is a certain satisfaction to having the AI build the transport, grow the population, position the transport, and in some cases, destroy the defenders and then buying the victory for a fraction of the expense and time.

In a certain sick sense, the Torians and the Arceans committed suicide because they didn’t see how the transaction could hurt them. The AI does not place a premium on transports like it does on other ships.

An excellent (and might I say evil) strategy! Thanks for the tip, Cypher! :)

SENSEI! Good to hear from you! Engaged to MOO3?! Come back...and look in the Strat Forum for maso wins with no military for your next set of attack tips ;)

Cypher - excellent; use the same strat to get freighters at maso level and plug them into trade routes quickly (this tip from Killa).

I've found you can routinely get ships for decent prices. Keep on Pluggin guys.... I'll be back for real shortly.

I'm starting to warm to the masoverse. I always liked the smaller maps since I can finish them in a sitting. It's so much more fun for me than having a game that I have to remember all week...

Now with both the challenge increace and scoring reward small maps at maso, I'm a wannabe cranker.

With Mrs. Pax in bed early due to pregnancy tiredness, I may be getting a LOT of games in.

Hope everyone is well. It's sort of quiet around here, except for that troll.

Cheers,

Cypher

Great going Cypher - you're firmly in the Top 50 with the Top 25 not far away! Best wishes to Mrs. Pax, too...although it IS medically safe to monitor her condition from your computer workstation....

"Next on the agenda," PontiusBruinPilot looks down at this notepad. "Ah, GROSS is looking for...." PontiusBruinPilot was interrupted in midsentence.

"Attention. Attention." A man dressed in all black appears before the crowd. "Listen up. This is to all the EVIL men out there. The Evil Empire is looking to expand. This is an invitation to all interesting in an 'evil-only empire'" The mysterious man disappears like his entrance leaving all those in attendance amazed. That something like this could happen.

Translated. Pontius just pimpslapped me. So I'll just throw this out and see if it sticks. Speaking of which. How childish is it to go recruiting on someone else's thread. Hypocrite.

LMAO we have 4 of the top 5 on the evil board. 7 of the top 25. You have two of the top 25. Nuff said. We dominate evil. Just accept this and move on simpleton.
