G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Pontius and EB: Thanks for your replies. I'm not looking for an ongoing debate, but wanted to just clarify where I was coming from.

Lets not dictate what eb should think is honorable and fun
End of quote

Not trying to do this. Just trying to tell you MY reactions to the tactic and I gather EB is not the only one who does it.

The assumption that EB "Can" play at higher levels is not in evidence
End of quote

True, I guess...although you would think that 30 or so games at beginner level would prepare you to move up. I give you EB's response:

Yes, I probably could play at a higher difficulty, and if you look at my scores I have a couple of normal difficulties there
End of quote

I think all of us, EB included, tend to play at a level that is comfortable and fun for us.
End of quote

No argument there - although this wasn't the point of my post.

When... Oh when will we get it out of our heads that this metaverse is about skill
End of quote

I agree - in fact, this point is IN my post (first pointed out to me by Ray). I don't have this IN my head at all.

the implication that we make a mockery of things as a group due to a "G.R.O.S.S." method is ludicrous
End of quote

At no stage did I imply this was an 'agreed' GROSS method. I simply drew attention to the tactics used by ONE of your players, and told you how I FELT about it. Even if you personally disagreed with the tactic, no one is in any position to make EB, or anyone else, do differently.

I will not apologize for being the leader of the finest, fun loving group of players in the metaverse
End of quote

Good grief - not asking for THAT either. EB can obviously continue to churn out beginner games until 2025 if he wants to. Perhaps to close off I should return you to Gerakken's quote, which is probably where I'm coming from:

I disagree with the Technician Theory of the Metaverse: deliberately playing way below your skill all the time to have faster, easier games. If tough is my best skill level, I had better be playing nothing less than challenging unless some new patch makes me relearn some rules. But that is more like a personal honor code of mine.

OOOPS - and that fact that I posted this twice does NOT mean I feel twice as strongly about it!

Wow!!! Deja-Vu. Glitch in the matrix again. You know the deal. First one that gets us back to the ship gets trinity for desert after we eat that glue slop for dinner.

Btw, call me EBZ, Zero, or my full name (EBZeroMatrix)...seriously, I hate being called 'EB', thanks :) .

As for my games, as I will remind you, I play at a skill level that's fun. The game isin't work, and I have no intention on spending long hours trying to figure out how to beat the AI on higher difficulty levels. As time goes, and as I get onto mastering my current difficulty level, then I will consider moving on. Till then, I am here to stay.

Btw, I just submitted 2 games :D.

Fair enough, EBZ! LOL I've obviously been trying to be serious for FAR TOO LONG -pass me the glue slop, and let me get back out to the sheep pens, where the real fun is!!

Whew. Taxes paid. Just throwing in my contribution. Afterall, we need to put a good amount of space between us and that Canadian Ghost Ship. Looks like I got so devious in tricking the aliens that I changed alignment. I guess I am good... and nasty. :)
Hmm, so at 9 good, 2 neutral, 5 evil - you were overall neutral. But at 10 good, 2 neutral, 5 evil, you became CG.

Could it be that you need +5, or -5 alignment games to move to the next? Interesting.

I don't know. Maybe there is not an easily predictable alignment formula that can be determined from the limited information that a casual user can gather from a player's record. What if pure good and pure evil are worth more than the chaotic version of either? What if the actual alignment scores were averaged and that determined the rating? Too many unknowns. All I know is that somewhere along the line, I did not kill enough worms! LOL

Oh mighty and glorious Emperor PontiusBruinPilot:

As a lowly, unaligned, independent newbie, I seek the guidance of others more experienced in the matter of empires. Specifically, I'm looking for info on what sets you apart from the others. One of your most prolific lieutenants, the fearsome and hyper-active EBZeroMatrix, has graciously invited me to post on this thread to bring the matter before your awe-inspiring and august presence.

Sadly, my rattletrap freighter's control panels offer no fast hyperlink button, so if you care to comment I can only ask you to check my thread on the main board. The following tidbits are offered to get your attention:

(Lone Locust of the Apocalypse)
Umm, EBZeroMatrix, I know y'all are pirates. If I sign on, do I get any benefits other than a bunk in the biggest, baddest chunk of sheet metal in the Metaverse and a share of the plunder? Can I take it in that wonderful, delicious J.D.?
End of quote

(EBZeroMatrix)
I think you answered your own question there . But to go further, you get discounts at Kentucky Fried Drengin. Oh, and after years of scraping the barnacles off the ship, maybe Pontius can make you a senator. Well with G.R.O.S.S., we just liek to have fun with what we do, I love this empire, and I really wouldn't want to be in any other one. It's not so much competition with us, even though we do have our competitors, but its more liek us being a happy family of pirates havin fun, selling KFD, and makin scallywags walk the plank! I'd advise for you to inqure for more info. on the G.R.O.S.S. empire by posting on the G.R.O.S.S. comm thread. Pontius is sure to be much more convincing than me.
End of quote

Ever respectful, I await your reply. If you choose to respond here to serve the double purpose of imparting your wisdom on the unaligned and rallying your own troops, I will keep a channel open.

I would add that G.R.O.S.S. stands for Get Rid Of Slimy alineS.
EBZM lead him back to the hold, where the booty is. Oh and break out some of that canadian beer we took off em on Canada Day no less. I'm firin up the bbq replicator....How bout some Kansas City Style Arcean Ribs?
Though we don't have many blue smiley faces amongst us, tactics do not matter with us. Efficiency is what counts in the end. Nor does where you're from matter. Our goals are simple. Go for all the booty we can get and show these other empires who's boss. And how you choose play your games is up to you.

We are the most happening and most fun empire in this metaverse no doubt. We have threadzilla, She likes to eat these puny empire's threads. We have the Survey ship of doom. We have the jovial spymaster Gerrakin. We have it going on. And one of our members did much work on the unofficial strat guide.

Your choices in empiring really do come down to just two. Do you a) Wish to be G.R.O.S.S.? or b)wish to be Gross Roadkill.

Any other Questions? Oh and Gerrakin just invented a scrape the barnacles machine so it's not as bad as when ebzm had to do it.

I hate that space fungus. It survives anything and grows anywhere. Luckily, I might just have something in the workshop to handle that. :)

Oh mighty PontiusBruinPilot,

Thank you for sparing a bit of your glorious wisdom on a lowly newbie. Truly, I am not worthy of your attentions but am humbly grateful all the same.

BTW, is boot-licking in? Probably should have asked that first.

Still getting the feel for the game and trying to ramp up my difficulty level in a hurry. I find that it's easier to lull the tasty Drengin into a false sense of security by letting a few semi-intelligent pod life-forms survive. If others choose to view this behavior as "good," that's their problem. I assume y'all have no problem with this technique, judging from the G.R.O.S.S. emphasis on efficiency and results...

Not quite ready to be assimilated yet, but I appreciate the promised labor savings on barnacle scrapings. I plan to get a few games in as soon as I return to my wonderful PC with the game installed - I'm going through withdrawal. After that, we shall see.

Many thanks for letting me eat up a bit of space on Threadzilla - I shall now return to the main board from whence I came to let you concentrate on pillaging.

I think they take your morality rating at games end and average it with 35 and 65 as the threshold. Much higher for the pures.

I took 3 chaotic goods ~70, and one chaotic evil at ~18, and went from good to neutral. One more pure good (100) game and went to chaotic good.

Under this system, it's going to take a lot of games for you to change aliments Ray.

stupid me for typing in non-symmetric thresholds the first time

Do you mean sharing instead of sparing here? HEHE. And my mates say I have shared enough wisdom already for the entire weekend. I don't know whether that's an insult or a compliment.

The GROSS command crew gather on the deck of the Survey Ship Doom. Pontius looks around the table: "These charts, on the table before us, contain our master plan for the complete assimilation of the Metaverse. Today, I will reveal those plans to you. Needless to say, this is TOP secret.."
EBZ: "Captain, before you go on...did you see that guy in the red t-shirt in the forward deck. I didn't recognise him?"
Ger: "I DID see someone, but in a yellow t-shirt. What gives?"
Kit: "Nah...you're both wrong - his t-shirt was blue..."

Suddenly, four pastel-garbed ninjas enter the room, appearing out of the air vents, under the door, seemingly from nowhere...

Pontius turns to his crew, and with dread certainty, says: "IT'S THE WIGGLES!"

GROSS crew dive desperately for cover...smiley rainbow shruiken take out the guards at the door....Gerakken is hit by a lollipop stun dart...All the Wiggles freeze for a moment, however, and glance at the Wiggle in the purple t-shirt, who is snoring gently: "WAKE UP JEFF!!!"

THe yellow Wiggle suddenly spies, on the far wall, a Barney poster signed "...to my lil buddy Gerakken" and viciously destroys it with a water balloon.

Pontius backflips over the command deck console and manages to activate the intruder laser defence system. The Wiggles freeze..and melt into nothing....just as they has arrived....

Pontius surveys the master plans, rendered useless by scribbles of indelible, multicoloured crayons...

Pontius (in best Invader Zim voice): "DAMN YOU WIGGLES....DAAAAMMMMM YYOOOOOUUUU!"
