G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

G.R.O.S.S. communication thread.

Cringe in fear do gooders. The G.R.O.S.S. (Get Rid Of Slimy alienS) empire is now formed. In less than an hour we have jumped 95 other Pacifist Doo Gooder victim empires and lept into 40th out of 135 ranked.

We are an evil empire bent on controlling everything and showing all the other empires out there who's boss. US. Are you listening Euro-"Oh lets let everyone be a senator and give em a vote doo gooder democracy alliance?" We come for you.

For a limited time, (untill I decide otherwise) 5 Pure Evil games, (or just impressing me with your game evilness) submitted will get you a Senatorship. Later, being the evil empire pyramid scheme we are, it will take 10. Of course, being the evil empire we are, that gives you no benefits, no pay, but all the alien carnage you crave most.

Now we do realize that sometimes, you just have to fake being good. You sometimes just have to infiltrate that pacifist party. We understand. But we aren't a kinder gentler empire and don't let their pacifism go to your head. And just sometimes, you gotta let the Aliens live (where else would you find slaves for the heavy metal lava mines?)

In the future, we shall update each other in the empire via this thread, brag of our conquests, drink blood wine, and generally just poke fun (creatively and humorously) at those players whom we find to be too goody goodyish.

Our mottos.

G.R.O.S.S. Where being good is merely a temporary strategy.

Just win baby.

Here's your ration of skin you do gooder wimp Drengin slime. Now get back to work

EBZeroMatrix you have been made a senator.

I repeat. Cringe in fear, we come for you.

Welcome new members
Capt Chaos: Good G.R.O.S.S. name there.
Thelon Fairblade: With a name like Fairblade, obviously likes to sell used ships to Aliens.

Both fine additions to the team.

Of course we would have to think of a name that recognized your alien smashing contributions and preserved your legacy within the greater whole of course. I already have one but wont post it here. You know others may be listening. And like I said. Merging is not defeat. Nor is it Surrender.

Update: Where we stand.

We have proposed a merger with the Midwestern Empire. We are in negotiations now.

Advantages would be obvious. We'd instantly be bigger and ranked higher (not that we couldn't do it on our own)

Your emporer would like to Retain the G.R.O.S.S. identity within any new empire name. Furthermore, We believe it would be better to accomplish this by us absorbing them and Renaming Us, rather than vice versa as we are more numerous. Several suggestions for a new name have floated around. We would of course insist that the empire be open to members from all regions of the United States and everyone else in the world. That is not up for negotiation. Nor is the fact that we are an evil empire bent on controlling everything. HEHE!!!

What are your thoughts on the subject?..... Pontius.

"What are your thoughts on the subject?..... Pontius"

Sounds good.

I must admit the Kiwis uniting was a clever move. LOL Must find an answer to that.

Hello, Fairblade. Good to see you like small maps and high difficulties!

Eh, Pontius: Are you OK with my general offer to top15 players to join us as a Senator? It is interesting that a majority of the Best is still unaligned. Shouldn´t we reach out to them?

Turning my lemons from another thread into lemonade? Good, evilly good. And here I was half joking about what if the regional USA empires united under one banner. ;)

Gerakken: Trying. HEHE. I must admit you were my evil inspiration.

Being a citizen of the US, in the "real world of the 21st century" that would appeal to me. But only if we can retain our G.R.O.S.S. identity too. (It's derived from Calvin and Hobbes) And only if everyone else that wants throughout the world is let in too. Not right to exclude. That's unAmerican.

In a game where the goal is to completely dominate things (via cultural assimilation, Military conquest, or otherwise) Could any of the strategies be truly called Good? We at G.R.O.S.S. think not.
See the only difference is we here, Like Calvin (indeed the gross name derives from Calvin and Hobbes) admit it.
We at G.R.O.S.S see this game for what it is. An evily fun addicting Galactic domination game dedicated to making spouses everywhere in the world either a: quite lonely or B: fight over the computer for their turn to play.

I'm not in an Empire but I am strangely drawn to these empire related threads. Watching you guys plotting to take over the Metaverse with your various nefarious strategies is almost as much fun as playing the game itself.

If you guys strategise as much in the game as you do to take over the Metaverse then your scores would probably be even better.

You guys are truly devious. ;)

LMAO Erikk. That's probably half the fun. And I do strategize as much in the game. It's just we're mostly newbies so we haven't caught on to some of the score milking yet.

So Get in the Game. Get in G.R.O.S.S.

Actually I was thinking of choosing one of your empires as my own personal one.

But then I would join its main adversary and submit 50-60 losing games.

Then I would just sit back smugly (until I get bounced out on my butt) knowing that my contribution to my true empire would never be truly appreciated by anyone but me. ;)

*******some real world issues here*******

Some general real world principles of our empire.

1. Our evilness refers to the Game strategy. It is encouraged but not required.
We think All the three strategies (good evil neutral) are evil. Unlike these other doo gooder pablam pukers we admit it!!!! Our evilness doesn't extend beyond the game. That's all we are doing here. Playing a game. A fun one at that. So don't go thinkin we worship Satan or anything like that.

2. Playing an evil empire bent on controlling everything (the idea derived from Calvin and Hobbes) is fun. However, being a control freak is not. In fact, it's ridiculous. You won't get any of that around here from me. And you shouldn't from anyone else either.

3. Playing an evil empire bent on controlling everything does not give you the right to cheat. Stay within the rules.

4. We encourage our players not to use cheese tactics. But the bottom line is these tactics are not illegal and how you play is up to you, not me (see 2 above).

5. This is an American led empire. I am a citizen of the U.S. I won't hide that fact and am proud of it. But I attempt to keep it game theme oriented. And I refuse to be exclusive as to regional membership even if we adopt some regional theme to our persona. Ive been mulling some Americana themes while discussing a merger with the Midwestern empire. Those that contacted me about our merger made the request to at least keep our G.R.O.S.S. theme in there somewhere. I believe game theme is more fun. We may take on some American persona, but I insist our G.R.O.S.S. identity be preserved. Short of that, there can be no merger.

6. This is a game. That is all it is. I have become aware of members thinking They are letting us down with low scores. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. I truly don't care what your score is. You're not letting me or anyone else down if it stinks. I'll give you tips if you want em on how to raise em as I find em. but again how you play is up to you, not me. If you love small games that don't score well, that's great. More power to ya. If you don't have time to play much. No problem. Besides empire score, unlike individual score is additive. Your "Low" score cannot possibly bring us down. It's mathematically impossible. We will always have more points with you in the empire than out of it.

7. All members are grandfathered on current Senator requirements. Senator allows you to do certain things in our empire screen but other than that, They don't have any more authority to dictate play, behavior, or anything else. (See #2 above). Since there's no real power in this empire, I chose to make senatorship an achievement thing rather than Well I choose you.

8. The emporer's authority: I have the authority to kick anyone from this empire. But haven't ever used that. And again see #2 above. The only thing you'd get kicked for would be gross abuse of the forums or another player, or cheating. As to where we go or what we do, everyone's input is just as valuable as mine.

9. Joining this, or any other empire is a voluntary activity. Everyone is free to come and go as he or she pleases. But while you're here, have fun. Win, Smash all the aliens you can. And be a part of the Galactic Steamroller we are!!!!. Think of creative game themed stories of your conquests and post em here.

We will own this metaverse eventually. It is only a matter of time. We will whip their tails through Honest deviousness.

Now go Win. Recruit. Have fun. Dominate.

LMAO true evil deviousness. Unfortunately, your scores all carry with you when you change empires. So it won't work. Also a low score on the part of one person cant bring down an empire. It's additive If I am looking at it correctly and scores can't go negative.
P.B.P.,

I didn't really think it would work. It's the thought that counts. ;)

I knew about the scores travelling with me to a new empire but I never was going to join another one, just secretly cheer for it.

But wouldn't there be some negative effect to an empire getting a lot of losing scores until they caught on and bounced me. (assuming at least 0 points for the loss) ie. if they had a total of x points they would now still have x points but the divisor (sqrt(number of games)) would now be larger.

Unless, of course, you get some positive points for losing.

PS Many years ago I read this long cartoony story (by Jules Fieffer I think). The gist of the story goes like this. The main hero (?) was the U.S. entrent in the upcoming Olympic Games. He had blown away all the other guys, trying for the U.S. team, in each and every one of the 10 events.

By the time he got to the actual Olympics he was bord with it all. There was no challange anymore. Then, like the grinch, he got this great idea.

In each of the 10 events he tied (exactly tied) his closest adversary. The American fans went crazy and boos rained down upon him during each subsequent event. In an interview after the games he tried to explain that it was much harder, for example, to throw a javelin exactly the same distance as someone else then it was to throw it any distance greater that that.

I knew that I had found a hero for life. ;)

Well welcome our new official G.R.O.S.S. cheerleader!!! Now go play for our enemies!!!!

But I don't think it works that way. If individual scores are calculated first, then summed to get empire scores. The square root thing can kill your score, but it only means your score can't add more to empire score. It cannot through tons of games smack it. the empire score since total games only impacts each individual's score which is then summed.

What you are thinking is all empire games from everyone in the empire are lumped together, in one pile, then the formula applied. If this were true, you could ruin an empire.

But judging from Gross scores, I don't think the second method is the case. Our total score would be lower than it is in that case.

Someone please correct me If I am wrong. It's late and I need to go to bed.

LMAO speaking of ties, here's a funny one. I used to get slaughtered at Chess by our local champ. I then changed my strategy from going for a win to going for a stalemate. I ignored seeming paths to victory deliberately in order to force a stalemate. Funny thing is, this guy couldn't beat me any more. After Tie after tie after tie at a major tourney he stood up, tipped the table over on me and called me a dirty player. I won in a walkover. LMAO

What a bunch of semi-evil amateurs.

I'm so evil I'm gonna submit more games as evil than all you sorry bunch of losers put together. I peel the flesh of the Drengins and enslave the Torians again. Just because I can. The Yor are also useful as slaves as they will work till they fall apart from rust. Forget your oil bath, serfs! MOHAHAHAHA!

"What a bunch of semi-evil amateurs."

We´ll look forward to see you create a 1-man-Empire and take over the Metaverse! :D

Update on my game: It took 3 bloody wars to eradicate the Drengin. Now I am changing gears toward a cultural strategy. I usually start this with the Minors, because they are quite rich and influential, so if take them over first, it snowballs from there. The Alexians have already fallen to the seduction of Terran Culture, now working at the Carinoids.
