Star Control?

Has anybody considered a Star Control mod for Sins? Something recreating the great war from StarCon1 would be really cool to see.

You'd only need two teams - the Ur'Quan Heirarchy and the Alliance of Free Stars. I think it sets itself up really well for a really good mod.

I'm just throwing it out there (I've got an IP mod I want to work on - don't seem to be many out there) but maybe someone else will think its a cool idea too, and make something of it.

I actually thought of this the first day I played Sins (release day :D )

There certainly are enough ships for a mod, and it would be visually interesting given the huge variety of designs in SC.

And a Spathi ship lauching Backward Utilized Tracking Torpedoes (B.U.T.T.) would make my year.

I was doing a little brainstorming (not too seriously) and I think it'd really be perfect.

The only problem is there are only 7 ships per race in StarCon1, so it may need to be based in SC2 - or just make up a few new ones, though I'd probably take that as sacrilege.

Cap ships could consist of the Chenjesu Broodhome and Ur'Quan Dreadnought.

Cruisers could be the Yehat Terminator, Syreen Penetrator, Earthling Cruiser, Ilwrath Avenger, Mycon Podship and VUX Intruder.

Frigates would be the Shofixti Scout, Arilou Skiff, Mmrn-Hrmn Transformer, Umgah Drone, Spathi Eluder and Androsynth Guardian.

The sides would work rather differently too.

The Ur'Quan Heirarchy makes more use of 'fighters' (Use the Dreadnought fighter bays as fighters, and the VUX Intruder's goop as bombers, we could possibly even alter them so that they damage speed instead of hull). Only the Chenjesu Broodhome would use 'fighters' that could sap shields and antimatter instead of hull.

The Shofixti (BOOM! hehe - my favourites) would be the Alliance scout, able to quickly blast around the galaxy and double as high explosives in battle, but the Heirarchy scout would probably be the Spathi Eluder - fast scouts, that double as harrassment forces (and can fire while on the run).

It would be interesting to see Arilou Skiffs in action - teleporting all over the gravity wells, while Ilwrath Avengers cloak and sneak up on planetary defense installations and capital ships.

Earthling cruisers and Mycon Podships would act as seige ships, while Broodhomes and Dreadnoughts are used as colony ships. This would mean caps need protecting - that's all you'd have for colonising! Unless you make that just for Broodhomes, and the Heirarchy one is different.

Oh the possibilities! Hasn't anyone else ever wanted a Star Control RTS?
