Mod enabling freezes / crashes game!?

Hi there folks,
first I´ve got to say a realy nice game you made there. And what is even nicer is that it is "supposed" to be easy modabel!!!

So here´s my problem:
I downloaded the Forge Tools, and made some changes to gameplay.constants, changed some things for CapShips (like Squad size and prices). I located my Mods folder made a new folder "my mod".
So far so good, I start the game, click in the options menu on mods, and it appears in the list. so I select it and click on enable mod.
Shazzam, game does nothing any more even you can move the mouse but doesn´t ctd. I have to return manualy to the desktop, and there a window pops up with the message: "saved minidump: C.\........"

So where is the error.

- Do I have to copy the "whole" GameInfo folder into the mod "My Mod" folder, and overwrite the files with mine I have changed, or is it enough to just use the changed files?

- Is it possible that the error is that the ingame GameInfo files are in Binary and the edited files are in text and it´s a bad Idea to mix em up (even thoug IronClad states the game doesn´t care if it is binary or text?

I cant´seem to figure out where the problem is, at first it seemd so easy to mod the game. Even I followed the all the steps in the pdf? Strange

Oh and if the prolem is mixing binary with text, this is stupid, since there are and will be more changes with the patches released and the GameInfo Files released with the Forge Tools are worthless. Is there any converter binary->text and vice versa?

any comments and help very welcome

You can mix them. The problem is that you have to have all the files in there. Apparently, that'll be fixed in 1.03: should be easy, because the files are already checksum'd in sin.xml.

Copy everything from the gameinfo folder in the mod pack, not just the files you change.
