Why does Sin call the internet every few minutes and freeze my mouse out?

Mouse issue

Every so often while playing single player small map (am brand new to the game) Sin try to connnect to the internet and when I block the transmission my mouse no longer works in game. I keep getting site certificate revocation errors. HINT: thats how I blocked the signal. So its reaching out, when it hits my firwall it gets sent back random data until it gives up. I know thats why the certificate errors are showing up. I'm guessing the mouse issue is because I don't click "no" 15 times to get the game to stop trying and the game still thinks that it has the top Z layer when the cert error alert does.

So I can move the cursor around but not click on anything. Very annoying.

Ok so why the hell is Sin connecting to the internet during a single player game... and where is the patch to make it stop?

Sins shouldn't be 'calling the internet' like that at all.  Are you sure its not another program running in the background while you are playing Sins?  Perhaps a problem that is trying to update?

Absolutely sure.

Ill do a full analysis in the morning. My computer is in game mode tonight and I don't feel like work atm. ;)

I'll post the steps I took in an edit after this post.

It is the game as reported by the host, the router, and the firewall box. I'll post more info as I figure it out.
