DockBackgrounds Preview (mini tutorial Request)

I already made some skins and I like to share them on the Gallery...

I always get in panic on the dockbackgrounds previews

to be confortable I should have 1 computer only for them or half day to dedicate as I  change 2 times before\after the O.D. configuration for more then 1 screenshoot (because I find impossible to record a movie )...

I kindly request expecially to my preferred master skinners Messiah1 and Cavan 1 how they are organized (their "backstage") when creating their splendid previews !!

Thanks for any help !!

Frankell,

What I do is this:

I have 4 docks on my screen at any one time. The zoomer at the top, the tabbed dock at the bottom and the singel tabs, either left or right. I will usually take a screenshot of the zoomer in action and at least one tabbed dock showing (click on the actual tabbed dock and it will stay put, then mouseover the zoomer). Then, I might change the background of one of the docks and move it somewhere else on the screen, take another screenshot etc.

It is important to note, you must take an ENTIRE screenshot, meaning from the upper left corner all the way to the bottom right corner.

When you have your shots, open your graphics program and open one of them. Then just import the others into that and line them up at the upper left hand corner. Once that’s done, remove what you don’t want by deleting it. If you took good, same size screenshots, the background (wallpaper) should always be lined up and it will look like one “desktop”.

Sometimes I’ll put in 128x128 versions of the tiles and actual size version of the zoomers somewhere on the canvas. Then, I just add my signature and the name of the docks and viola!, a wicked looking preview.

If there is a genuine interest in a graphic tutorial on this subject, I'd be happy to do one. I'll post it at the wiki.

Thanks messiah1
I'm really happy to hear from you !
You are the precursor on perspective backgrounds + you was their killer !
I mean yours tutorials are great but your perspective backs are so perfect that I'll never create one + I'll always choose 1 of yours!
Yes I made some dockbacks AW I tried something different
+ your advice on the previews are very useful
I guess my first step will be to upgrade to OD Plus...
thanks again !!
