Tiny Map - A "teamed" partner on startup?

I've just started a new game in a tiny universe.
I had contact to one other race, our relations were "TEAM".

I did not talk to them, I did not have a universal translator, I did not play a scenario...

Is this a bug? (I started some other games on a tiny map - every time a saw i TEAM partner in the forein politics screen)

You can set relations with any of the AI races, up to Team, on the opponent selection screen. IIRC, relations this high become unavailable at a certain difficulty, but I don't remember what, as I've only used it two or three times.

See if you can turn the starting relations down?

My apologies if this is obvious.

I know, that I can customize the starting relations with every race.
I did not do that. I started the game with 9 random races.

This error was reproduceable.
I restarted a game with the very same settings and I got a new team partner. First - Torian, after tha Drengin.

If you played a scenario with teams, or had a particular race set to teamed last tie you used it, that team setting will persist on that race until you specifically set them back (even with random races).

I figured out how this has happened.

Race selection.
- choose any race and set relations to TEAM.
- choose RANDOMIZE opponents

and
The race that comes to the slot where you set the relations to "TEAM" will become your TEAM partner.
