Maybe not - I started seeing minidumps after installing 1.03 whereas, before the installation, I'd seen none.

Okay minidumps should be the #1 priority for upcoming updates.....

When you put aside a couple of hours to finally sit down and play a game....to have it ruined by a minidump is terrible.

It's the only thing that can ruin this game for me, it feels like such a waste.

And no, I don't have any mods and have not gone near a modded game.

I can't even play the game because as I start the tutorial it pops a minidump on me.

Ok, so far i found out minidump occures while having a 'bad' map in the 'game'/galaxy folder. Sins seems to check every map code while starting. Solution therefore could be to prior-test any single map in your Local Settings/Application-game folder as they will show up in the 'custom-map' area ingame then.

Besides the minidump also fires on maps larger then ~60 KB...directs to a code problem regarding ram management ingame from my point.

For me mods compatible with 1.03 work fine (Uzii's SinsPlus aso.) but i have 4GB of physical RAM ready to use...probably checking your window's memmory use for fine-tuning might help. So mods aren't the real problem i'd say.

Minidumps also appear when using the German string file instead of the english one. But only in the tutorial. They should fix this. First we thought the problem is our german translation. But now i see, it is not.

I got rid of all my Mini-Dumps by clearing out the MODS directory....

Not sure if I fully understand, but in the MODS directory can you have "multiple" directories, like MODS/Mod1/Gameinfo (etc) Mod2/GameInfo (etc)....the way it looks you have all thes different mods that all share the same Dirs/file(s)....does not make much sense if that is the case...which mod "wins" in the file war?

For now I play without MODS....pain in the you know what to play for a hour and forget to save the game and loose a bunch of stuff.....

I guess I can try putting all the mods in seperate dirs in the MODS dir and see if that helps, but just tired of loosing stuff

Yes, I have a LAN game that a group of friends and I had been playing for over 4 hours. Now we have gotten to a point where we get a minidump no more than 5 minutes into the game, everytime we try to play it. We wasted over 4 hours playing a game that we cannot even continue.

This is completely ruining Sins of a Solar Empire. A game that doesn't play, is not good!

well...as far as i understand, the minidump error is a missmatch of memory assignment as well as when the game system detects a wrong code (maps, mods aso.)
lowering your graphic settings might have helped for the first problem...try out some mods that are secure like Uzii's SinsPlus and you'll see if your system has enough power left. Reason therefore: the mod's are the cream puff of this game...

Any particular reason u felt the need to resurrect a thread that is 10 months old?

I get a minidump when I just try to install the game. My rig has more than adequate specs. I have Windows 7 OS.

Is there a support address to which one can send one's minidump so they can analyse the problem?

... dude, this thread is two years old.  You can and should create your own thread in the technical support forums.

It's always possible you got a bad CD.  If you register your serial key, you can download the game online via Impulse, which could side-step the issue.  If you're already using impulse and are having issues, you should contact [email protected]

This just goes to show that not all Sins purchasers are rocket scientists, to put it mildly.
