Adding Crystal/Metal mines on other planets

When you get to a planet or asteroid, how do you add crystal and metal mines? The building thingys wont jump to the other planet, what do I do?

you never have to direct the building thingys. On your new planet or asteroid just select it and then use the buttons there. Don't bother selecting the building ships.

Whenever you colonise a planet you are given one builder unit for free. You can increase this number with logistics upgrades. Just click the new planet and you will get a build menu. You can also build ships and things directly from the Planet build menu assuming you have the appropriate factories.
