how to mod it for realism

Greetings, i love these games but would like a touch of a more real life realism like:

1. Gigantic map to little, any pos to mod a map which is like 10 times bigger? Ofcourse thiw would also require distances to planets/stars should be increased by 10 and not having a map with 100000 stars.

2. How do i mod speed/sensors/range i would like to halve or even cut values to 25% or even less. it should take years to reach a new starsystem not weeks.

3. All factions should start with zip nada tech and research should be alot longer. 

Ive tried to use the civ2ide editor but francly i cant really find any way to make it work, because if i for example edit a campaign file i cant select it in the game later on, nor dioes edited maps show ut within the game.

If someone could answer just a fraction of my ideas how-to i would be very happy. Been playing most maps but i generally gets tired of it as i dont really like the maps, either you start with ships or no extreme worlds etc.

1 - There is a bigger sized map, Immense, in TA, but to get anything bigger you could possibly make a custom map, although I don't know how the game would handle it.
