I love Sins overall except in Pax Imperia 2 (which was the PC version after MAC did PAX1 it was WAY BETTER in the star systems and planets overall. SINS needs some trimming to do on how their memory usage works. As it stands the CPU and graphics cards are getting overloaded due to all zoom lengths being processed at the same time. I kinda found the way points between planets kinda silly since in general "warp" has always been between stars in EVERY game and show not planets inside one solar system. Basically if Stardock combined Galciv 2 and SINS = the perfectly created game. They both have opposite bad negatives and opposite positives for the most part.

Just so that Stardock's position is clear:

1) Sins of a Solar Empire is not just the frist RT4X game, it is the first compuer game to take place in space - of any kind.

2) Sins of a Solar Empire is the first game to make use of the mouse to control the game.

3) Sins of a Solar Empire is the first game to support resolutions greater than 320 x 200 by 256 colors.

I hope this settles any sort of discussion on the matter.

You forgot:

1. Sins of the Solar Empire wasn't just the first game. It INVENTED the word game.
2. Sins didn't just create online. Sins is Al Gore.
3. Sins of a Solar Empire created religion. If you don't believe me, ask Jesus Sins.
4. Sins of a Solar Empire is not just a game, it's a lifestyle. Whenever you pay your taxes or go to church, Sins is all around you. No one can be told what Sins really is, you must play it yourself.
5. Sins is your father, luke.

Pax Imperia 2 was a great game in many respects (shame the multiplayer was so buggy otherwise I'd still be playing it today). Ship design was fantastic, as were defenses (could take a cue from those guys Ironclad..).

However, the game did not have real-time battles as such, it slowed down the entire game in order to do the battle sequences. It's diplomacy was awful (though Sins' isn't much better), the UI was clumsy in places.

Regardless, a good title, ahead of it's time and sadly didn't sell all that well. You'd do well to try it.

And God hates fanbois, just remember that kids. Games are not worth throwing tantrums over, and they do not need you to rush to their defense, nor smite down their foes with badly-written forumposts.

Let's not forget, most importantly:
Sins is Chuck Norris.

  • Sins of a Solar Empire is the fist in Chuck Norris's beard.
  • Sins of a Solar Empire invented Al Gore and therefore the Internet
  • Sins of a Solar Empire was the inspiration for the integrated circuit

The key thing is that we refrain from exageration. Precision and accuracy is crucial.
