Request details on buying SoaSE online

Game version

For sometime now I have been waiting to buy SoaSE in the , I have now given up and can't wait any longer. However, before I buy the game online (which will be the first time for me). I would like some information with regards to what version of the game I would be sent? Further to this, I am completely at a loss as to whether the recent game updates/modes would be included in the game? Will I be buying the most recent version of the game, which includes all of the recent modes/updates?

I would very much appreciate some guidance on this topic.

Thank you, 2 anyone that replies!

If you buy the game through digital distribution only, you will need to download it through Stardock Central, and you will receive the latest version (as of now 1.03). If you order through digital distribution and choose to pay the extra money to have them send you a DVD, the same still applies (downloaded will be 1.03), but the DVD you receive will be version 1.00.

You will get 1.0. Patches will be applied the usual way.... You have to use the patch fuction. Works well from the launcher.
To clarify, patches are included free. In the future there may be a expansion which you will propably have to pay for. Oh, btw.. I think they call patches enhancements here.

Fetrik is mistaken. If you download the game you will receive the latest version (1.03). The only way to get the original version 1.00 is to install from the DVD.

Really? I did download and think i patched... But maybe i didn't. Patch 1,3 was out soon after so maybe that's the patch i applied. Anyway, my appologies if i was wrong (and i most likely was).

Trust me. :) I've been using Stardock Central since the GalCiv1 days. That's the way it works.

Plus, I'm on my work PC right now, which has SDC, but Sins is not installed. If I choose to install it, it specifically states in the "Available" column that I'll get 1.03.021. There's no way to get an earlier version. When you download via SDC you always get the latest version (or latest beta if a beta is available and you have the appropriate checkbox checked).

Yep yep, Stardock Central is always the latest version, there's no way to download an earlier one. :)

I've done it, downloading the game right now! Not long until my life is pure and whole once again.

Not long at all   Withdrawal symptoms can be quite severe, though :P

Just remember that they do plan on releasing a 1.04 update quite soon, and when they do, games saved in 1.03 probably won't be compatible. Enjoy!

But par for the course for electronic distribution. Steam, for example, always gives you the latest version of any games. And unlike SDC, you have no option to decline getting the update. Once you start Steam, if it sees a game update, it WILL update the game.
