Halo Homefront

Halo Homefront

A Homeworld 2 mod

Hey there, I'm from Brokenline Studios to tell you about our upcoming project, Halo: Homefront, a Total conversion mod for Homeworld 2

Homeworld 2 is a space combat RTS, and is likely the best one around, with full 3d planes of movement, awsome ship AI and an amazing ammount of mod support. Homefront is a Halo based mod that will change the game to depict the epic space battles between the UNSCDF and the Covenant

More information can be found at our site http://brokenlinestudios.net/ and our forums http://brokenlinestudios.net/forums/, over there my name is overlordjebus, if you feel like sending me a PM, we also have a Moddb page, http://www.moddb.com/mods/9722/halo-homefront

Now, onto the fun stuff, the eye candy.

Currently we haven't released any Covenant ships, how ever we will be soon.

first off is the strike craft, since the games and books only mentioned longswords, we took the liberty of making our own strike craft, the Scimitar Light fighter, and the Halberd Bomber. We dont have a texture for the Halberd yet, but heres some pics of them anyway ^^

the scimitar (this might go through some changes in the future)

and the halberd

top

bottom

and heres a snazzy little size comparsion

the one in the middle is of course the longsword, y'know, for those pants on head retarded people out there

next we have the frigate, like the Forward unto Dawn or the In Amber Clad

Now heres another frigate we created ourselves, this is a Missile frigate, Its a lightly armoured ship which fires rockets in a continuous stream from the circular module at the front, designed to hang back till the covenant ships shields are down then fly forward and just pepper them with a constant stream of rockets until the enemy ship is dead

i remind you, everything in this mod that you see now is subject to change

heres our version of the destroyer, this is probably definately going to change, model and texture wise

now for a few more ship we created ourselves, these are the different frigates. Due to the UNSC's constant struggle with the covenant, the expense of building cruisers became slightly less practical, and the reliability and cheapness of the frigate chassis gave birth to a new generation of FFG's

the one furthest away is the light frigate you saw above, the middle one is the new carrier frigate, after the UNSC couldnt build carriers fast enough to keep up with the covenants wave of destruction, so the carrier frigate was produced, with an extended hangar so it can hold an extra longsword/halberd squadron. The closest is the heavy frigate, with increased armor, and more powerful MAC then its light frigate cousin, this is basicaly the child of the light frigate and the destroyer.

This is our own little Halcyon Cruiser, untextured but we are working on it, Like the Pillar of Autumn

and of course, the Marathon Cruiser (this is the ship seen at the very begining of halo 2)

the cruisers will be textured all in due time, dont worry.

The SMAC platform, the frigates there just for size comparison, the model will be separate dont worry

The UNSC shipyard

this will produce everything from the Marathon downwards.

and this lil beuaty is the Cradle Repair and Refit station

and finally the Astreaus BattleShip.

Only two Astraeus Battleships were ever built. The UNSC Contingency and the UNSC Field of Hope. Both were left in there briths, half constructed, when a Covenant fleet assaulted and glassed the industrial colony where they lay. The two ships survived, a testament to their endurance and power. The UNSC diverted billions of dollars to finish construction under a new name. That of Astraeus, Titan god of the stars.

and heres a size comparison of them all, and yes, the Astreaus really is that big.

thats all for now people, ill keep you updated as more stuff comes through ^^

so yea, any questions?

It is I, Overlordjebus, back again to tell you awesome tales of the world of Halo: Homefront.

He Is The Destroyer of Worlds

While you may think we're slacking when not releasing info, Velo (arguably the only one NOT slacking) has been cooking up some awesome ship models. First one we have today is the UNSC Destroyer. The UNSC Destroyer is noted as being one of the most painful ships to meet on the battlefield. This ship was originally considered to be too weak in conflict with the superior Covenant Ships. But soon all knew the amount of damage it could receive as well as dish out. With a Hull Length of only 7 meters longer than the UNSC Frigate, no one could imagine the destruction it leaves in it's wake. The Destroyers armor is one and a half to two meters of Titanium A armor plating. The Destroyer also mounts 2 Magnetic Accelerator Cannons. There is so much more to be said about this beast, but without further ado, the UNSC Destroyer.

You want those boxes where?!

Along with the Destroyer, Velo has whipped up a Civilian Freighter. These babies will act as Resource Collectors for the UNSC Faction. We are currently toying with the visual aspects of UNSC resource collecting, but our hope is that the crates seen on the freighter will only be visible when the collector is full and visual load/unload.

Territory Captured! Orange Team Wins

As some of you may know, KrAzY, one of the BLS texturers has begun his own web-comic series entitled Digital Gambit. Viewable at http://dgcomic.info/, and updated daily, Digital Gambit is based mostly on KrAzYs views of popular media, from Halo to GTA to Zombies. Although fairly new, Digital Gambit is quickly shaping up into a popular web-comic series. So be sure to check out the site, and stay tuned, because our next update will feature an exclusive comic from the series.

Hey! I know it's been a while, but a few of our team members have been going on summer vacations so it's been difficult to coordinate an update (mostly because I'm a lazy bastard) But, lo and behold, we have another update for you guys. Feel special.

KRAKOOM!!

What's that sound?? UNSC ships exploding into existence!!! Who needs slipspace when you can explosively translocate like space ninjas? NOONE, that's who!!! So Velo's been working overtime (too bad he doesn't get paid) on some new ships. First he makes them.....posts them in the trusted area on our forums.....we all complain about whatever nuance we dislike.....he takes them back.....fixes them.....and repeat. You'd be surprised at the quality of the stuff we turn away. But that's not my point. My point is here are 3 new ship designs!!!

Designed to deploy and support large numbers of strike craft to support other UNSC vessels, the carrier has proved to be a vital strategic advantage throughout history.

How ever, unlike ground based carriers, the Aeolus supports a large ammount of armour, missle pods and still carries the standard MAC, possibly most importantly it mounts a large number of PDS guns to give it's allies support against enemey craft too.

http://brokenlinestudios.net/wp-content/gallery/simple/ships/aeolus.png

Despite being larger and heavier than other cruisers, the Hercules is in no way combat effecient.

Brought back from a period of colonisation, the Hercules wasn't built with survivability or offensive power in mind, simply the ability to carry security forces and ground support weapons to at-risk colonies, they saw little use before they were quickly replaced by smaller more effecient warships.

Although archer pods and a MAC had never graced the Hercules before, recent demands in the war against the Covenant have rapidly depleted cruiser numbers in the UNSC, the decision to refit the remainder of the surviving Hercules was made and the fleet quickly became content with their new cruisers.

However, despite the Hercule's intimidating size, it became clear all it was actually good for was carrying a large ammount of Archers and MAC to bolster the weapons in a fleet, the out-dated design being unable to take the strain of rapid manuevering, and the large compartments designed to carry troops and equipment becoming fodder to Plasma weaponry.

Although there have been multiple calls to return the Hercules to the scrap yard, the UNSC simply cannot afford to scrap an entire line of cruisers given the Covenant threat.

Although rarely seen in larger fleet battles, the Wolfclad is usually deployed as a heavy policing vessel or garrisoned at less important colonies to suppliment frigates against smaller craft.

Usually found with strike craft, the corvette provides gunship and support capabilities to fighter swarms, mainly a support craft corvettes are never very heavily armoured, relying on speed and out-gunning it's opponent to come out ontop.

All Your Base Are Belong To Us

It's been a while since we last showed any concept art in an update. *checks* omg it's been over 6 months....So to make up for the fact Ringleader is getting no love, here is some artwork of a Covenant Capital Ship above what appears to be a human colony. Glassing the planet? or exploding into existence? You decide.

"This is not WarCraft in space. Its much more sophisticated!"

As promised, KrAzY has dished out an awesome comic from his series Digital Gambit for Halo: Homefront. My only problem with it is that he didn't put Halo: Homefront anywhere.....damn him. Check out all his work at http://dgcomic.info. I present to you, 'Selected' by M. Luck.
