Background too Dark?

Am I the only one that finds the backgrounds for the starmaps way too dark?

I can crank the gamma up, but everything but the starmap looks not so great. On starting singleplayer every 2d or 3d time (on some maps) it has a bluish or greenish map, and I think those are fine, but I'm wishing there were some way to set that as an option.

Has anyone out there done anything to mod the background?

i think there a few skybox mods in the mod section. other then that I think the brightness is fine, I think it's just your monitor try calibrating ur monitor to make sure it's correct

You can go in the options mid game and turn the skybox on and off, it will be random each time you turn it back on. I usually just fiddle with it until I find one I like.

Heh. For me, its fine. Then again, I have my ships painted bright green. I can see that those with navy blue ships may suffer.
