Income Distribution

I am sure this has been mentioned so your patience is appreciated. Regarding the INCOME DISTRIBUTION SLIDERS. Say I set them at 35, 35, 30 (military, social and research) - the sliding bars are in the middle of the bar. However, I just looked at a screen shot of this from this site and they show 42, 17, 41 and the bars for 42 and 41 are at the top - what i assumed would be 100% This *must* be by what people meant when they spoke of "wasted" money. so my question is:

1) Is that what wasted money is
1a) why isnt social being wasted at 17 (the bar is in the middle)

I thought i had those bars figured out. Any insight would be appreciated!

THANKS

The sliders value is determined by comparing it to the other two sliders.

Slide all three sliders to the top, and you get 34/33/33. Slide social DOWN from there, and you get 50/0/50 (M/S/R).

The sliders are the 'proportion' of your spending. If you want to spend 75% on Military, 0 on Social, and 25% on Research, you put the Military slider to the top, Social to the bottom, and adjust the Research slider to the 25% point.

Wasted production/money refers to the fact that even if you don't have anything in that queue (military/social), if you have the sliders set so that some money will go to that category, the money still gets spent.

GalCiv sliders are propotional sliders, not absolute sliders. If three sliders were at max/max/zero, the percentages would be 50/50/0. The icon size is just a visual reminder of how much you are spending into that area. It serves no other purpose I am aware of.
