Best places for laser batteries?

So far i've just putting them all over and around the planet but is that a wasteful stradegy?

There only good, against Pirates, and should only be put, around a planet, where the pirates, will run into them.

this is probably best suited to Stragey forum..

Personaly when i play any race i dont use many defence turrets, i generally block my important structures together, surround them with hangers and repair bays, and if i have spare tac points i dump a turrent there too.

For the rate of fire, and damage turrets are not that usefull, if you protect the hangers with repair bays then they will do more damage over time, and are a pain to kill if covered by 4-5 repair bays.

And trade depots. Pirates like to assault trade depots.

Homefleet has omitted that turrets are also excellent against AI. Build a small cluster of them and then move your own forces near them once the AI attacks, and they'll get nailed by the turrets as they try to take out your ships.

On close encounters u use it to protect frigate factory, and to guard your construction frigates against scouts.
