Will my machine cope?

I really like the look of this game but as my machine is starting to creak a bit I don't want to get it if its going to struggle. I have 2.8GHz processor, 1G RAM, Geforce 6600GT graphics card. I know this is above the min spec, but I dont want to play if its choppy when the screen starts to get busy. Anybody an idea how I'll do? Cheers in advance.

The ram looks like it will be a problem, is the 2.8 dual core? I do not know about the graphics card so I cant say.

I can report how my computer handles 4 players in Single player and how it handles 10 players in Single Player.

My Computer is:
Windows XP Professional
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
1024MB RAM
8800GTS

Game Settings:
1024x768
AAx2
Graphics - High
Bloom On

4players Single Player:
Runs great - Even late game with lots of units and AI running amuck my computer seems to handle it pretty well.

10players Single Player:
Runs pretty well - Late game the AI begins to bog down the game and it becomes "choppy" this does not make it unplayable however.

In My Opinion:
Setting the Graphics down and such will not make the game look bad. I have done so on my computer and I think the game looks really good on medium and low. its my opinion that your computer will "handle" the game, you may have to lower your graphic settings but your game play will not be affected in 2-4 player games that much. 6 player and higher, as i have experienced, you will probably see some "chop" late game.

I would get the Demo and check it out if you haven't already. Set up a large game and see how it goes.

Cheers,
Edix

I'm running Sins on a 6 year old computer with a 1.7GHz P4, 768MB DDR-Ram and a Radeon 9600 Pro. There is some choppiness late game on larger maps, but otherwise it runs quite well on low settings. I can't see anything in your computer being a problem.

Just keep the ship and planet details and textures on low because i have trouble with this game using too much of my 2gb of ram. Gettin another 2 shortly, good thing ram is dirt cheap now

I think you should be fine also , at least you should get optimum running through altering a few things. By the way give the game a chance :) I wasnt sure when I started playing but once you get a rough idea of the challenges you will start to appreciate the game. In saying that I am a complete strat newbie so good chance you will do well straight away :). I guess Im just hoping for many newbies into the game so I can get some decent games MP in the future :)

Running it in a window is a great way to gain a lot more fps. I'm running it in a window with all settings high and full AA, but I do not have bloom on(Eats up to many CPU cycles) and it runs great. I have a 1.83 GHZ Centrino Duo processor, 2GB ram, and a 256MB Nvidia GeForce go 7300.
