What to do on the Day of Silence

    Now, there's been some uproar in the conservative society on what to do over the Day of Silence. Here is what I say.

    Send your kids to school. Let 'em talk all they want. That way, we will not be silenced.

    Arguably, you can make your own "speaking card" for the event.

    Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, protesting the silence faced by those who believe in Christ and Intelligent Design (Christianity and Creationism) and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the silence?

    Remember, this is a war and we are soldiers in the army of God, and armies engage when the threat is too much to bear.

You act like we're suppressing free speech. :)

Be free to believe and express all you want, but don't automatically think that validates your views.

That's why science exists, to determine things objectively. It's about evidence, not beliefs.

And you find harm in remembering "Lawrence King, a California 8th-grader who was shot and killed Feb. 12 by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression."?

If Christians are as caring and "love the sinner, hate the sin" as they claim to be, they would not be coming up with smart ass ways to denigrate something that is not even Scripturally wrong!!

WWJD? Would he make a smart ass card, diverting the topic from one of safe and caring treatment of "sinners" to something else entirely?

DoS isn't mandatory. Why anyone would even need to instruct their children on how to avoid it or create a political agenda-ridden card for them to use to hijack the day is beyond me.

All a kid has to do to not participate is...NOT PARTICIPATE. And one would assume that a Christian who yearns to be more Christ-like would SUPPORT this cause. I don't recall Jesus speaking out and asking us to shoot homosexuals, nor did he ask us to condone the shooting of homosexuals.

Whatever, dude. Do you even HAVE kids?

I'm not supporting it, merely stating that there should be no support for a sin. Yes, I said the "s" word.

I'll never support harassment, I (have always, and always will) get enough of it, but I do not believe that there should be such an obvious drawing of attention to one persecuted group, when there are others who should be included.

Murder is always wrong.

No, I do not have children. I may opt for celibacy.
