Metaverse Submission problems

As some of you have pointed out to us the Metaverse submissions have not been working for the last two days. The problem has been corrected and all the scores that were submitted were placed in a queue and I am currently processing that queue so your scores should show up shortly.

Sorry for the headaches.

I see a 13 June game for you, redshift. Are you aware that 1.05.069 submits as 1.044?

Kokeaux - You first game is submitted under the playername of bb413

Berserk74 - Your game was originally submitted under the playername of Tactical Providence.  Once a game is submitted under a player name it cannot be resubmitted under a new player name.  So even though later you retried to submit it with the player name of Berserk74 it will not save because it was saved under a previous playername.

BearCave - If you still have a saved game just replay the last bit of the game and resubmit it.  I suggest you ugrade to ver 1.05.070 first.

Alzandrion - Looking at the data you are submitting there is a problem with the actual data.  I can't tell for sure but it appears that you have entered a comma in either your playername or your email address.  If this is the case, the extra comma is corrupting the data and I cannot properly parse it.  If you are entering a comma in either your playername or email address please try removing it.

Drizzt - I'm not sure what the problem is. I did not receive any data.  I suggest you email Cari at [email protected] and ask her if she has any ideas.

RayChua - Thanks for reporting the problem with the versioning.  Brad just posted a new build that will submit the proper version and therefore will not be recalculated by the metaverse.

RedShift8 or anyone else who has posted a score with ver 1.05.069 - Scores submitted with this version had the wrong build number therefore the scores were being recalcuated on the server side (thinking it was build 1.04400).  If you resubmit those scores with ver 1.05.070 they should show up with the correct score.

I finally got my Metaverse submission to appear. I had originally purchased the GalCiv standalone CD, then upgraded later to Drengin.net. I had to convert my serial number to the new Drengin.net number, then it appeared.

"Kokeaux - You first game is submitted under the playername of bb413"

Thats what I thought. I have the save dir but do not have the .sav game thats in the Data dir. Is there a way you can just transfer it to "kokeaux"?

thanks

I am also having problems submitting my Metaverse games. I tried with 1.04 and 1.05 and neither have shown a posting.

Nevermind... I see now that they are under my real name and the "player name" is listed inside.

Thanks T-Man. Now I understand.
I have one more question. How do I submit under Berserk74? Should I use different save file? Or Should I create a new account for metaverse?

I have been playing computer games ever since Pacman came out in 1980's. Galactic Civilization is one of the best games I've seen so far. Even if I can't submit to metaverse, I would be playing and enjoying this great game.

Thank you.

I have a question. If I want start the new player, I understand that I'll loose all my previous submissions, but is it possible to start as new player. If it is possible what exactly should I do ?

I have had trouble getting my Metaverse score to register. Let me tell you the following things I have tried:

1) I checked to make sure that the the name I was submitting under was the same as the registered name. They are both Topical68.

2) I am behind a firewall. I placed my computer in the DMZ in an attempt to see if for some reason the firewall in my router was blocking the submission. Is there possible a port I could open?

3) I believe I am running the most current version of the game, and am not running Dregnin.net.

4) I have never submitted a game successfully, so the problem with repeated submission should not be my problem. (I have tried a number of times to submit this game, but it has never been successful)

Thanks in Advance

Nevermind.

Even though the registered name, and submitted name are my other sometimes handle, Topical68, The submission appears under my account name for GalCiv. Go figure. Solved my own problem.

I finished playing a game at 1.05.071. Tiny galaxy & win by military conquest. I received the submission succesful (several times attempted) and it doesn't show under my games. Ideas? :notsure:

Server problems perhaps? The site was down (for me at least for quite a few hours over the week end).

No, the site was up at the time... maybe the Metaverse Submission server or something wasn't working at that time...

Berserk74 - Your previous game that was submitted under a different playername cannot be resubmitted.  But for any new games just enter in Berserk74 for your Player Name on the submission screen and that will do it.

Hurley - We had some sporadic downtime with the server over the weekend.  Its possible you tried submitting a game while the server was down.  Please try again.

Machael Casey - It appears that your games are posting properly.

Parable - I help you out via IRC.  But just so others know, the ad blocking software  MagicKillah Adblocker was preventing GalCiv from sending its data to our servers.  Disabling that fixed the problem.

Oh, and just to help, I have added a section in the Encyclopedia and Player Registration page to include some rules and guidelines for the Metaverse:  http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/metaverse_rules.htm

Thanks T-Man, but just went thorugh the end game etc again got the message saying submitted OK and no change to my metaverse entry. I did notice that the list of civs oesn't show Terrans but a blank name (bug?). Anyway, other ideas? Do you want me to send you the saved end game? :(

Thanks T-Man I just reported a 18 score game to see if it works and IT WORKED.

As everyone in this forum says "Thanks T-Man. You are The Man."

Can you look into this?

I have 2 games (same game actually) I tried to submit June 16 that did not get recorded even though the prompt came up that said it was recorded successfully.

I just tried again to day with no success.

Jeffery... thats exactly what was happening to me. I submitted my game and the prompt came up telling me it went through but my score didn't change in the Metaverse. T-Man helped me out and it seems that firewalls and adblockers will keep scores from going through some of the time. To be safe, you should disable any adblockers you have running and configure any firewall you may have to allow galciv to go through (or just disable the firewall when you try to submit). It'll probably go through if you do that, it worked for me.

Any idea what ports galciv might need open, to work with submission through a firewall? If I disable my router firewall it needs rebooting which seems a bit of a pain to do every time I want to submit a score, I'd rather just open the necessary port.
