Unfortunately there is no programme that allows you to do it.
However, if you are more precise on what you've done, and if you've been following one of the guides, someone here will be able to help you.

I followed the readme and did everything it said it was just this bit that i could not do

Near the end of the GC2Types.xml file, add some space before the "" line
(it should be last line). Add a new entry like the following:

i did what it said but when I loaded it up I could not find the ship

This may sound like a stupid question, but did you research medium scale building? Also, what version of the game are you running? If it's DA or TA, the code given in the readme is probably out of date.

I had the same problem. Rename the X.file to S99_Structure(XXX) and put in C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Gfx\Models and put every thing else in with it. Then start a game look in the extra generic folders part and you should find it.

Note( Change XXX to a three digit number)

Good example Freeman43, but that is assuming he wants the ship as a structure and not as it's own independant hull. Though I've never done it the way you suggested. With me, it's either a structure, or a hull. I only make them structures if I have the Khsm installed.
I would rename the model S99_medium_1701, and then in the ship details set it up like this:

Keep at it Harbone, I found it really difficult at first. Eventually you will work out why it's not showing up in a kind of Eureeka moment. After that, it will be easy.

Well, some nifty info above for anyone wanting to tackle up Ship tasks - so i would have a pretty simple question which would need to have thorough details about EVERYTHING necessary provided by anyone daring enough to reply *in an extensively precise manner, btw!

- What & how exactly is the best or only way to attach the all elusive valid & controllable "HardPoints_Dummies" to any particular structure or model, be it loaded up within a GC_clean default situation or via, a system with KHSM installed?

Cuz, i swear - i've looked everywhere and beyond for some particular hints.
No such luck, yet. Sooooo, please? :)

PS: Really can't afford 3DSMax solutions.
