Leases, Loans, and other pesky drains on my cash

Perhaps a feature that could be added is the ability to terminate leases and loans in the same manner that trade routes can be terminated. It would save some money in the long run, but you would have to have the cash on hand to pay for most of the rest of the loan (the cash saved would be based on how much had already been paid and the initial interest). I don't know how difficult this would be to add, but it would sure be helpful.

When you do things like that, you usually have to pay an additional penalty over and above the normal cost offsets the over-time income (you're technically in breach of contract when you make such an offer).... If you're already (relatively) near the end of the contract, it will probably turn out to be more expensive than just paying it out on the initial terms.

I may be a little bit behind version wise (1.02), but the last I heard there was no penalty for leases and such at the end game. Therefore, there is no advantage to paying off anything early until there is some kind of end game penalty for not paying it off. Now, while I keep leases to a minimum myself, there seems to be folks who won't blink an eye to pay 6 BC per month for 300 odd months (or whatever) to speed buy something really time consuming. I may like the idea of this suggested feature of paying off leases early myself, but things for the endgame need to get tinkered with first.

If you get yourself a good-sized economy (on Large+ maps, anyway), rush-buying any of the wonders with Mitrosoft is a pretty good deal and quite easy to absorb.

And there's always the minor races to bully for money. :)

I'd like an option to pay off leases as well, and I've added it on my list. The next time that we talk about adding new features I can bring it up for dicussion.
