America will continue its steadfast march into a corporate police state. More and more 'security' issues will continue to grow and more and more liberties will be removed for national security.
Very soon all persons traveling in the interior of the US will require a pre-authorized travel permit. This will be marketed as a solution to long wait times at airports. a few months or longer before you fly anywhere you will fill out and apply for expedited travel times. It will be done with a smile but the effect will be the same.
The inherent problems of a failing infrastructure, the governments inability to manage internal concerns, combined with the overwhelming political/corporate corruption will lead to an ever increasing lowered standard of living.
The very wealthy will become wealthier, the powerful will control more and the middle class will be marginalized and reduced to a new upper-lower-class.
Fascism is a term often tossed about but rarely understood in its true implications. It is the corporate state ruled through direct administrative control of all aspects of life.
In socialism/communism the state robs you and imprisons you for the good of the state. In fascism the state robs you and imprisons you for your own good.

There will be no drastic or sudden snaps in any direction. Much like what the current situation is, it is a slow process of nibbling, not rapid bites.

The only big bite occurred when the Reichstag was burned down by communists, sorry, I mean when the world trade centre was blown up by terrorists.
When the Reichstag burned it gave Hitler an excuse to crack down on terrorists that threatened the state and impose martial laws on a civil society. George and Dick did the same thing and nobody commented on it.

My big concern is if there will even be an election. The Homeland insecurity act allows for the continuation of powers in the event of national emergency. Something they didn't even have during World War 2 but suddenly need now. My money is on a terrible occurrence between now and then. a sad faced monkey president will appear on television and not mention the lack of election, only the need to postpone during this time of crisis.

I think that is a little ridiculous. Could you please provide any evidence that President Bush is planning on declaring a crisis and using this Homeland Security Act? I do not believe the American people would stand for such a thing either, short of a massive invasion or attack and as soon as the media makes the public believe that the crisis is manageable the public would outcry for an election.

If there were any proof available then there would be a quick little coup de ta here in the U.S. Real quick. Others including myself have expressed trepidation at the possibility of Bush pulling a stunt like that, remote yes, but just the fact that it has entered the minds of many people other than conspiracy theorist is in itself a frightening development in our country.

No one suggested such a thing even during the Watergate crisis with Nixon but Bush and Cheney have demonstrated a level of Arrogance and disregard for the Constitution that they make Nixon seem like an honorable man.

I doubt such a thing will occur, but as I said, just the fact that people think he “might” is frightening.
