Two questions from the Demo...

1. In the full version is there an in-game encyclopedia? I'm trying to figure out what tree path to research, but the description of what a particular tech allows me to build doesn't allow me to view what it actually does. It just shows that researching this tech allows you to build this thing, but it doesn't tell what that thing is or does. I also cannot follow the tech tree in any "overall picture" to find out where I'm going. If a tech brings up a new improvement to build, I should be able to see what it does. Civ III did this very well and there's no good reason it shouldn't be in the game. The last part is a minor complaint, but at the very least I should be able to follow what my research leads to as well as what the benefits that it provides actually do.
2. Can I micromanage my planets? I find it patently ludicrous that the sliders only apply to my entire empire. Why can I not have one planet just pump out military units? If I want to hurry a social improvement at one planet (by emphasizing social production in the domestic screen) I can only do so at the expense of research of military production and research IN MY ENTIRE EMPIRE!?!? This is ridiculous.
