I've only seen one occasion where the AI cheated. That was when one minor race built both an economic capital and a trade good in the same turn. That's impossible no matter what.

Even if they paid cash for one of those projects, (extremely expensive and wasteful), there still is only one build queue so that shouldn't have been possible.

Er... people have reported building multiple items via purchase in the social queue. There seems to be a little something odd associated with doing so, but it can be done for the human.

There is still an odd bug out there where the AI can build uniques multiple times. I've had 2 different major AIs build the same wonder within a few turns of each other. That's a bug, not an intentional cheat.

I presume the minor race in question had only one planet? Perhaps they bought one and built the other...

I just found a bigass bug If you buy Soil Enhancement and Entertainment Network in the same turn, they both vanish from the list, but only one shows up on the projects list. The other remains absent, and cannot be built. The same goes if you buy something, and something else gets completed in the same turn.

I think that's because when you buy something, you don't immediately have it... you have it "next month". Now if the devs only want us to be able to buy one social/military per planet per month, there should be a warning pop-up when you try to buy two things in the same turn.

The point is that not only do you not get the second item, it disappears from your build-list, so you will *never* get it.

I don't really see a problem with being able to buy multiple things at once... it's *expensive* is all.

When you rush-buy a morale or PQ improvement, you get the benefit immediately.

The first couple reviews I read for GalCiv said stuff about how disheartening it was to have random events wipe you out. I didn't get that at first and had a few games without understanding.

Then I had Space Sharks escape and wipe out my empire.

Then I had the fundamentalist event take my best planets.

Then I had a 3-way AI Alliance wipe me out 'cause their minor civ ally picked a war with me.

I don't know it's a complaint, but it's frustrating to get off to a good start and play a few hours and then have to surrender. And not to be able to think of anything you could have done differently.

Overall I'm still pretty impressed.

Sometimes you do get burnt beyond any ability to recover from, but experience helps. Did the space sharks escape from the zoo? If so, don't accept a zoo next time. Fundamentalists are an evil-only event, you can avoid them by staying neutral or good aligned. A 3-way alliance is tougher, either start preparing right away to fight them or join them, but definitely don't take them for granted (I'm not saying you did, I'm saying you have to get proactive with them).

Yeah, it can be frustrating, but there are also some killer good events that can happen to you as well, so that has to be taken into account. You can also take the Lucky trait for a +25% bonus to luck to help with this sort of thing, or take the Univeralist (I think that is the right name) government and add Luck for a whopping +50% luck if you really want to tip the odds in your favor.
