gameplay/demo/purchase

I just downloded the demo. I love turn base games like this. I have played a game like this and it looks a little tough. Is there a demo walkthru or something to help me get started? Would you suggest I buy this game? Sorry alot here. this game just looks so fun. I have been playing disciple 2 and this is way different. Thanks :)

No walkthru that I know of. TYhe game plays differntly each time. Try building improvements that are good for morale and for the economy. You can tell what improvements do by reading the descriptions. Dont build a lot of ships until you need them...upkeep is expensive. In the start up screen, look at what the different political parties do. Pick the one with good morale and good econmy to start. At this point dont bother with trying to allocate points to other gameplay enhancements. Save that for later when you are better educated on the game. Play on fool or beginner until you get the hang of it. It will come to you after just a few games. I recommend you buy it.
Also, best to come with specific questions on gameplay. Example; "what does this do?" "whats the difference between X and Z" etc etc. The folks on this board are great and they will help you out.
So...you still online? Why are you running out to buy the game?
Cheers.

You can turn the tutorial mode on which should help, and there's various information under the encyclopedia tab of this website.

erm, in the demo you can't make those picks.

What I HAVE found out, is in playing the demo that the easiest way to get the upper hand is explode in tech. I concentrated tech efforts (100%, after a couple of initial colony ships as needed) first on propultion. Getting those extra movement points early makes a huge difference. Then the traslator, then infrastructure techs with emphasis of manufacturing. After that, it all depends on how the galaxy is set up.

Of course, this is only a noobie opinion.

Really? That's exactly the opposite of the standard strategy everyone seems to have developed here. I don't do this myself, but what seems to work for most people is setting military production to 100% and set government spending to 100% and pump out colony ships like crazy and colonize as many planets as possible. But, that probably isn't necessary in the demo since you're limited to tiny and small galaxies. Every time I played the demo, the game ended before anyone declared war or anything and I never had any real combat ships so your researching tactic is viable. Just keep in mind that that won't be the case when you have the full version.

Well, I just "finished" my first demo game. got a score of 740. Don't know if that is good, bad or ugly. lol
