A browser question

Everyone uses their choice of a browser to get to the internet, so this is not a question of which one do you use or why.  You use what you use because it works.  If it didn't you would change browsers.

My question is do you have a second browser on your computer?

Not really a simple question because if you don't like IE you load FF or something else and you automatically have two browsers.  I haven't head of any people uninstalling IE and I'm not sure if you can.

So, if you have multiple browsers on your system tell us why.  Is it only to provide yourself a back up to get to the internet?

Are there conflicts that can occur because of having multiple broswers?

Slow day for me, I may even come up with more questions.

Sorry, but at this time you may only use Internet Explorer to upload new photos.

That is on this site if I want to upload a Photo to my Photo Album.

So use FF all the time apart from when have to use IE .

Happens on other sites as well so need IE as well.

Having multiple browsers installed won't cause any conflicts.

FF is my primary browser. I also use Links, which is a console based browser for when I am working at a CLI level and need to access the net. It works well and if started with the -g switch will display graphics as well as text although I rarely use that as text only browsing is much faster.

Konqueror and Nautilus are also installed on my system but I use them as file managers and not web browsers.

FF is my primary browser. Some sites just work better in IE, and sometimes I'm just feeling contrary and use Opera, too.

Why? Because I can.

Godd enough reason for me.  ;)

These days I use FF as my main browser. Before using FF at all I used Opera for certain sites because I preferred it over IE and I still use it for the links I have saved in it. Use IE7 when I have to.

I use Opera always. Sometimes iexplore and sometimes safari just for a change.

I almost never use IE, only a couple site I go to require it, and I guess I could use IEtab extension for FF but don't bother.  Otherwise I currently have SpaceTime installed because its a rather cool way of using the web, mainly in the search area, but I don't see me using it as my main browser at all.

I can tell you this. When Stardock updates our sites we start with IE and then work our way out from there.

I personally favor FF for all the plugins I use every day with limited troubles. From my experience in support I find more reoccurring problems with Opera than nearly everything else. I simply use FF until some random site gives me hassles then I often try it in IE. That generally solves it. I'm looking forward to IE8.

For the purposes of Stardock sites if you ever have trouble with browsers always try it in IE to see if that is the case.

Seabass, apprreciate the info from the Stardock point of view.  :HOT:

I have tried plugins in IE but they always seem to cause problems especially Google ones.  (:(

I installed FF3b5(nowFF3rc) as a back-up and set it up with WC as home page. IE7 hasn't allowed me to rate skins for weeks no matter how much "housecleaning" I do.FF does,so here,I'm on FF ,everywhere else,IE7. No conflicts so far.

Interesting that on a skinning site, so many prefer the uglyed up menus and toolbar that Fx has. I use IE, why? cause it skins better......

mitche323 just remember that the choices we make are all our own. :SURPRISED:

A lot of the times we step back and sometimes say, "Now why am I using that?"  ;)

Functionally should have something to do with our choices, don't you think?  :NOTSURE:

mmmhmm...

I use Fire Fox as my default browser, and opera as a backup browser on my system, depending on what browser I feel like using at any given time. IE was uninstalled from my system with xplite because I've always hated it, and yes you can removed it, but I did it the stupid way... To date I haven't had any conflicts due to having these browsers installed on the same computer, or the lack of microsoft's default IE browser. Overall, my system runs smoothly...

Have you tried simply clearing the cookies then logging back in yet? Does that problem with rating skins apply to all skins you try to rate?

I've got four whole browsers, and strangely, I use all of them.

Ranked according to usage:

1. Apple Safari- my main browser, loads up pages faster :HOT:

2. IE7- Usually for Windows Updates or when I find Safari incompatible with web apps. ;P

3. Firefox- self explanatory fondness :D

4. Flock- for Facebook :d

I used to have Opera too, but it didn't work out and I kind of uninstalled it :NOTSURE:

I use seamonkey exclusively for wincustomize. i find it faster for this site.
most of my other browsing is done with either FF 3 or Minefield.
IE7 i only use for microsoft update as to be honest it's the only thing the browser does well :)

I also have safari, avant, Flock and Maxthon on my system each with different homepages.
call me anal but it saves time lol :)

I keep getting "soon" when I ask. Here is the thing I haven't been told yet... but when I am told I can't say anything about it due to NDAs and the like. So I guess just wait for me to shut up.  :)

Oh yeah. Haven't used it in so long that I forgot I had Flock installed also. Works well with Photobucket.

All skins, and walls. Odd, though I've been clearing them out in IE7 w/'tools' and ccleaner,no help. It just did the same thing with FF3,( not rating)but FF let me "target" WinCustomize cookies specifically.I cleared them out and now both browsers are working again. :CONGRAT: Thanks for your response.

Opera is my main browser, as a secondary I use Sleipnir (which recently had an english release). It allows you to switch between the IE engine and gecko on the fly, which is nice. And yes, I know firefox can do that too with IE tab, but Sleipnir isn't bloated and gross with a bad skin engine >_>

edit: link to sleipnir for anyone interested http://www.fenrir.co.jp/en/sleipnir/

I use IE6 primarily at home. That is, until IE8 comes out. I can't justify using a browser 2 generations out. But I mix that with firefox and opera at home. Opera is so much better with facebook, firefox is better with myspace and for reading news sites. Thats just my preference.

At work it's nearly all Firefox. Simply due to Firebug (javascript, DOM editing/debugging tool). I have IE6 on a test machine here at work that I use to test our sites, and IE7 on my primary work machine is only used with Gmail and for testing our websites.

I have three browsers installed: Internet Explorer (7), Firefox (2) and Opera (9). Basically, I use Opera for everything. I use IE only for Hyves (some dutch site), and Firefox only for uploading my crappy stuff to Wincustomize.

In it's current state, IE8 does not work well with the Wincustomize forums. I've been using it in a Virtual PC and it's not bad, just not ready for prime time yet.
